Well I am a BMW 2002 guy. I was looking for as first car for my son. I am at my friends (he is a mechanic)and we are just BSing. I see a vehicle under a tarp and ask what it is. He tells me a 76 Toyota Truck. So he uncovers it. It was his fun car, complete new suspension, new rebuilt 4 speed. Vey nice interior with Recaros. The truck is painted Matte Black with nice RX7 rims and 245/50/16s. . Has been lowered very nicely, great stance. Has new Rotary compressor AC. He blew the motor 7 years ago and it has sat since. So we start talking. So for 2800 bones he is rebuilding and installing a mild hopped up 22R, Re-doing all the brakes (it has been sitting a while) Getting it running great, getting it inspected. Basically going thru the whole car.

I do not know about value on these trucks but does a 76 with a new motor, tranny, suspension, rebuilt rearend, great interior, nice matte black paint, cool rims for 2800 bucks sound like a fair deal?

That is not a bad price. For the age of the truck and how clean you say it is plus this is for your son it will be a good long lasting safe truck with many years left. I doing the same kinda thing for my little brother so I will spend extra to make sure it lasts and he is safe.

you could spend alot more than 2800 to get it to where he has, even if you already had a truck. sounds like a great deal to me

where are you located? if you are in cali you are going to have a headache getting that to pass smog with a hopped up motor. if it doesnt need smog its a pretty good deal if hes going to fix everything for 2800 with the truck.

    also welcome to the site.

^^^ agreed in Cali have fun trying to get that thing passed. If you live in a no emmissions state or a state were the laws are very low key then Id say jump on it. Id say the truck is worth atleast a grand if its straight no rust. RX7 rims coulda been free or coulda been couple hundred bucks. Lowering probably cost at least $200 with the new shocks/springs/lowering blocks. Recaro seats depending on what make are not cheap. New full rebuilt 22r is an Easy $1000 plus. Id say id hes gonna rebuild it and install everything and even out the bugs and its legitimately straight with good interior and paint then $2800 is fair not the deal of the century but your not getting ripped off.

2800 may seem like a good deal, but i wouldn't pay that much for somebody else build, unless I truly knew and had experience with his work.

For that money the kid could get 2 trucks, part 1 out and with the $$$ build it up himself.

OR if you're just interested in getting him something reliable, a 1 owner Honda can be gotten for that much.

First cars for for first drivers should be beaters.
