My 1993 2wd toyota pickup has one of the ugly third tail lights that look like a cap on top. I believe they are made to show over a topper.. the thing makes my truck look like a circus monkey so i removed it, cut through my beautiful vinyl head-liner and am planning to shave it. currently it his duck taped and the thin sheet metal flexes easily. i was thinking about cold-welding little patches on the inside and then bondo-ing it flush from the outside who has shaved this? how should i go about doing it? riley
hehe im glad my truck came without that thing from the factory oh and welcome to the site! INB4 post pics of truck
Welcome to TM bro. Got any pics of the truck? So what else is in plan for tis truck besides shaving the third light?
I welded plugs in on mine. But the good 3M panel bond would also do the trick followed by some bondo.
i recently fitted a GM led strip up there on my 94. just filled in the holes with some tiger hair and bondo. if you end up redoing your headliner, let me know how you go about it b/c i've been trying to figure out how i could redo mine without the bows.
here's one better...an HD vid! I don't have a camera other than the crappy one on my phone. YouTube - 3rd brake light it's dirty and still primed, yes (paint is coming this winter) also i'm sure you noticed the shatty craftsmanship of black silicon and what not...this is only b/c this was the "mock" light housing I have. I actually have a perfect condition one that is ready to install with the new paint. the only modding done to the light housing was a small hole drilled into the bottom where i fed the wiring through b/c it made it easier to hook up and lay flat this way. just ran the wires straight through a hole that was already there and filled the rest in. lastly, i've been thinking of ways to shave the light down even more to make it even lower profile but i'm not sure it will work. i'm not wanting to cut into the metal yet b/c i'm not sure about how to redo the headliner but for now, i'm digging this much lower 3rd brake light (i couldn't stand the stock bubble either)
