ok well Im thinking about ditching my gauge cluster for a nice clean looking setup, since my speedometer barely works anyways I would like to replace it..along with all mechanical gauges like fuel, water temp, oil temp, oil psi and other crap...which I know how to do since I already have most of them.. but how do you add an aftermarket speedometer ?!?

didn't you just post a thread about how you couldn't afford a $14 oil pump o-ring? aftermarket speedos are $100+. usually +++++ then you have to make a custom panel to fit your new gauges

oil, temp, etc are all electric gauges from the factory BTW.

thats what I thought, wasnt sure though.

I know I dont have money for this right now, but Id like to know what im doing before I go order the parts and realize oh sht this is a lot more detailed then I thought !.... I know how much the speedo is and I already have all the other gauges... and im not interested in dummy lights, I want actual numbers like oil psi and water temp in degrees, not a red mark on a line...

My stock speedo was cable drive, the adapter goes right into the trans where the cable was! And it will work with any after market electric speedo!
All the other gauges are mechanical /with the senders from Autometer (yes they must be wired) I spliced into the stock wires, all corrections are soldered & shrink wrapped, using the same gauge wire as stock!

Hey Action, could you post a link to that adapter,(or one like it)

    Thanks.

BTW, nice clean harness you made. I know it takes way way too much time doing it the right way.

couldnt you just use the trans adapter from an electric drive Toyota speedo? They are the same except one has an electrical plug and the other is threaded for the mechanical cable..
