Well, I've got to check a couple Pick and Pulls arouind here, but so far there isn't anything within 300 miles.

Rebuilt units are rediculous. $1300 +/- plus shipping.

Might as well do an engine swap... Would an SR20 be blasphemous?

Really wish toyota had a performance 4 cyl. that is easy to find parts for.....

Wait, the tranny? I know it was used in several models and years, but I'm told the tail shaft and bellhousing may be different. It's the tranny I've got now, in my 94 pickup.

The tail shaft bushings are going on it, and I'm having difficulty locating a set of them. The dealership can't even get them by themselves- I would have to buy a whole tranny case and can't imagine what they want for that....

hm...ok well ill double check, i think my junkyard guy had one laying around...i think it was out of a supra though so the tailshafts might be different.

have you looked on rock auto before i asked a trans shop what it would cost to to do the tail shaft bushing by themselves?

Yes, the inner would involve a complete tear down, 8-10 hrs labor, the outer is easy, but even toyota can't get them by themselves anymore. I would have to buy the whole tail shaft housing -$420.
There is a local tranny shop though that has offered to get me an aftermarket bushing for the outer if I can get him the dimensions, so that's my next step.

Thanks man, both of the output shaft bushings are going bad. I can't complain, it's got just over 200,000 miles on it. Just comes with the territory.:)

Well, right now, nothing. I replaced the output shaft bushing and it didn't change a thing. After talking to a local tranny guy who was very helpful (he even gave me the bushing for nothing), I've decided to drive it for a little while longer and see what happens.
He told me that he wouldn't bother rebuilding it unless it starts effecting the shifting, and even then just to find an old one rather than the rebuild.
I really can't afford to throw anything at it right now, so I'm taking his advice.

I do want to try adjusting the height of the carrier bearing to see if that changes anything too. Maybe when I come back from vacation...
