i got an 87 2wd and i wanna drop it with a kit. anyone know any full kits you can buy. i dont wanna crank the torsion bars because i want a good ride. so any suggestions? and show some pics too if you can.
check out these trucks i dropped. same suspension you have but ride quality stayed in tact...... possibly better. should help you out. you have any other qustions just ask away. these were both a 4/4 drop. the first one explains the process in detail. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5266&highlight=drop http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5784&highlight=drop
those are very helpful especially the first one. I was actually thinking about using similar wheels. thanks a lot
russellfidel- no prob man. hope it helped you out. 86ext turbo- my 86 i did with every part available. 3" rear belltech leafs, rear 3" block from Beefed Taco (streetacos.com) the fron i have djm 3" lower control arms, 2" belltech drop spindles, 1" bj flip and SAW torsion bars. i have somewhere in the neighborhood of a 8/6 drop
Hey SD Yota could u give me like a list of where u got ur parts an stuff cuz im wanting to get as low as u!
Make sure you get that info really quick cause hes thinkin of selling or parting it out. I wish I had the asking price cause SD Yotas truck is true inspiration to finish my 82.
Damn im jealous how do speed bumps treat you?? I want to get about a 4/5 drop on my 86 but i think i have to cut my wheel wells cuz im running 225/65/17s under it
front; DJM 3" arms - got them from summitracing.com belltech 2" spindles - summitracing.com bj flip - fairly easy to do just gotta get some washers and follow the steps in the links i posted up top. rear; beefed taco 3" blocks - got to streetacos.com 3" belltech drop leafs - forgot where i got these..... think i bought them off craigslist.... thanks man........ soon as you get a chance hit me up and we'll get a list goin to get your truck up and runnin again. speed bumps are ok so long as i dont let the suspension bounce after i go over it with the front tires. it does hit and scrape the frame if the speed bump is short and tall enough.... i had to massage the inner fender wells some in order to clear my 16's and 205/50 tires....... the biggest difference you can make to minimize rubbing is good gas shocks and thicker torsions. stock shocks and torsions render a real soft compression and rebound so the tire moves too fast for it to keep up under a fast bump. when i replaced the torsions and shocks rubbing nearly stopped when driving around the highways and around town. Macrib has a close drop to mine and he is running 18's with a 40 series tire. he has rubbing but substantially less since he upgraded the shocks and torsions. with that big of a tire on those 17's you will need to watch your drop height. your best bet is to look into a smaller series tire like a 50 possibly even a 45 series sidewall.
