Well after a full rebuild of a 22r with a 20r head , davis unified ignition a progresive webber and don't forget the exhaust, pacesetter header with a 2.25 borla turbo xl I want more... so supercharger... LCE is proud of the one they buy they want 3445.00 , I found one through atkins rotary for 1000.00 less. any and all input is welcome so fire away.

Atkins bought out Camden S/C, they build them and also sell them to LCE, so its the same unit. Spendy, not real economical, power increase is so so, although you can crank up the boost if the engine internals can handle it, you'll learn a lot about carb jetting and ignition curving. plus other little quirks. Noisy, but still fun.
Your big bore 20R (aka hybrid) is kinda the wrong approach, you'd be better off with lower compression.

unless you REALLY want this on your 22r .. an engine swap is more cost effective ....

    I went with the 5V-ZFE swap .. + now a supercharger ~300HP for about 5G total .
I did a "hi brid" 20/22r a while back for about 4G and NEVER came close to the horse power I have now :)

    just my 2c

ill take ya for a ride in my wagon if ya want.

ive got a really early version (some say prototype) of the atkins/LC unit with a jetted 32/36, stock 22r head and 20r block.

id say its just a bit more then my single side draft on a stock 20r, 35% sounds about right, my buttdyno says maybe 150hp. if you've ever gotten the big $hit eating grin a side draft will give you, the supercharger is much the same, but makes you smirk even when its idling cuz o the whine, where a side draft only gets you to smile when you hit the throttle.

the expensive supercharger really snowballs into very expensive fast, and im being as cheap as possible. but the added heat is serious and a bitch to deal with, and if you look at the intake design you might puke.

if you've got that much cash to toss at the most expensive possible place to buy stuff, ask yourself what your hp/tq goal is.

if its over 200hp get a different motor, period. it is possible, but not worth it.

well with bumping the timing up to about 9deg adv i got a reliable 190ish on hot days running around on the idle circut. once the motor is warm if i hit boost i can watch the temp go up to 195ish then i back off to cool down.

but i have recently taken custom hand built steps to correct this issue. got a 3 core stupid fancy rad to throw it with all kinds of lil mods to it. dude who built it swears ill have issues warming the motor up. and i have a huge oil cooler to put in.

heres a $hitty pic for now, gonna start installing this weekend. if you want to see more pics hit up my build thread @ http://blacksheepauto.com/forum2/index.php?topic=77.0

this project has gotten so expensive i no longer think about the total, but now just think of what i need to save to get to the next step

well thanks for the input after much consternation i finally decided to go with dual side drafts instead of a stupidcharger. I guees i like my motor too much to subject it to that kind of abuse perhaps on the next project ill do a super with nos ... when i have a back up vehical ...

like i said, more bang for the buck with the side drafts, lot easier to deal with too.

I would not personally do more than a cam, intake porting, exhaust and carbs on a 20/22R. They will make more power up after that but its so spendy a motor swap becomes cheaper. And if you have a 100hp motor modded to 250 vs a motor that makes 200 modded to 250, the second case will be more streetable, and be closer to its original design and should last longer. For what seems to be the average goal of 250-300, I saw swap in something better. I love my hybrid motor, its a fun little truck to mob around in. But if I want to get any more power from the truck, I will need more cylinders lol

i think colder plugs would help. ngk bpr7ey or bkr7e are recommended for 0-10 lbs boost.
