Heres my new toy. 1983 rolla with 199,000 miles, runs great, 4ac, 5spd, 28mpg driving it hard city, did a full tune up, and replaced all the front brakes, reman calipers, new rotors, pads, hoses.

Its a nice car but just has rust problems only where it was repainted but ill get it right. Zero rust anywhere else on the car, its clean under it, thats why I bought it for 500 bucks. Doors has worst rust, I have 3 new doors already.

My plans are turbo 20r/w50, shortened ford 8.8 or 79 celica supra rear end. just looking for 150-300hp, Ill be happy if 200 is reached.

I have a dual row 22r head from a 83 celica, from what I read is 3 holes need to be drilled and tapped on the intake to use the 22re intake manifold, and im pretty sure a 22rte manifold should bolt to a earlie 22r head. Not positive though, I want to put this head on my 22r.

I dont, I dont think its a F or G code, its probably a S or T or something like that.

Only other place it has rust in is in the truck area where the seal goes. Its only rusting where someone repainted it.

The 2XR is not a drop in, I know a few have done it, but its hard to find anything about a 2Xr in a corolla, no one does it. The mounts look identical to a 4ac, I know there are in the wrong place though, unless im that lucky. I actually have a 4age in my yard but its a 1.6 and it will scream but wont make much power unless fully built and 20psi. Ive ridden in my friends 86 4x4 with a 20r out of my old 77 truck and that thing rolls for a 4x4 with big tires, a turbo 20r in my corolla will be a lot of fun.

I also have to find a front sump 20r oil pan, I think the 83 celica I got the 22r head off of is front sump but forgot to look. The oil pan in mine is the mid sump. I can get a aftermarket one for the nifty price of like 300 dollars haha.

Just put one door on today, lot of work. it had some minor surface rust so it got some primer, im going to work on the rust each day till there is none left then paint the whole car.

engine hoist held the door while I bolted it up since all my friends work 2nd shift.

Nice lookin car for the $ and great plans! Run the celica supra rear end, the ford 8.8 cannot be narrowed as it is tapered.

im buying the celica supra rear end regardless 80bucks at a local junkyard, but after putting a lsd in it and what not putting something stronger in would be worth it. Are all 8.8s the same?

Love the old school Corolla- I have a 81 3TC. The best site to go to is 3TCgarage.com, all your questions can be answered there. And yes a Ford 8.8 can work in the Corolla. You need the complete rearend and an extra passenger side axle. The driver side housing is cut to the same lenght as the passenger side and the spare axle is inserted. This also will center up the pumpkin. I think there was pic on the 3TC web site.

Cool beans, thanks. For toyotas being overbuilt their T50 trans and S series axles suck. I read about people dropping like 1500 into a GTS rear end and it braking in a month with under 200hp.
