i just would like to request that you guys keep this clean and simple. im gauging interest in the truck as a whole as of right now. i will give as best a details on the truck as possible and everything thats been done as well....so here goes. 86 toyota pickup, standard cab, 22R, 5 speed. has 161k original miles on it. the run down; motor & drive train; -22R full rebuild @ 154K miles. stock bottom internals bored 20 over -new head from engnbldr, street/rv w/o.s. s.s. valves 270/430 cam -new offenhauser c-series intake (single plane) -new holley 500cfm 2bbl. carb w/percy's metering block -new dual 10" electric fans w/ adjustable thermostat -red top optima -downey 4-1 header, no cat, 2.5 catback system to full exit into a magnaflow -LCE 9lb. flywheel -5 speed trans out of a 94 replaced at 150k miles trans was freshly rebuilt (now has 11k miles) -LCE short shifter kit -rear end is the 8" rear with 3:07 gears, fully welded rear end. has been welded for 2 years now running strong no issues. this was done correctly and built strong. i guarantee the modification to never fail. suspension; -all front end bushings have been upgraded and or replaced with energy suspension bushings. -DJM 3" LCA's w/ b/j flip -SAW' front torsions -Belltech 2" front spindles -bilstine front shocks -rear belltech 3" drop leafs -rear 3" beefed taco made angled lowering blocks and heavy duty/grade u-bolts -rear Hellwig swaybar kit -rear shocks are kyb gas-a-just's -rear frame section has been notched and is cleared to be bagged and lay frame on 18's possibly even 20's. gas tank was relocated to the rear center and frame has been heavily reinforced with cross members added. cross member behind cab has been notched as well. body; -the body i will not lie, it needs attention. the bed is near completed but needs a few areas looked into in order to be perfect. bed is clean of most common rust, seams are clean and need to be sealed. tailgate rollpan and everything else is fairly straight or perfect. -the cab is in pretty good shape although it needs its attention to detail to be perfect as well. doors need some shallow dents pulled and the pass side door to be realigned. inside its as simple as it gets. interior still has the stock bench, dash in decent shape but is covered, has a pricey grant steering wheel and the lce short shifter coming through the floor as well. there are 2 auto meter gauges in place for the oil pressure and water temp in new working condition. i need to install the stock gauge cluster (nonSR5) -as you can tell the front end needs finishing work as i never really completed the front. was going to go with the later 89+ front bumper and valance but thats up to you..... currently has a 88 front 1 piece bumper, clear turns and corners, hella H4 euro lenses and 8k HID's. hood needs a couple shallow dents pulled, fenders have one minor ding each. overall the truck is a beastly little truck and as most of you have seen i never skimped on a dime for my mod's. i know what my truck is worth as a whole with its mod's in place and know i can definitely piece it out for about the same as a decent offer for the whole truck. thing is i dont have the heart to do so but i wont give the truck away as if its not worth anything either. im open to offers and if you care to make one, you can place it here or PM me. if your offer is within my price in mind i will let you know i will take it into consideration, if not i will kindly decline your offer. simple as that. the truck is located here in San Diego CA. arrangements for delivery or pickup can be made. if you are out of state and care to come view the truck those can be made as well. NO ONE WILL GET A FREEBIE "TEST DRIVE" without a serious offer in hand or prearranged offer etc..... although it seems some of my build thread is missing, most of what this truck has gone through including most of the mods as well as the motor build can be found here on its build thread. current pictures and such can be found here. any other questions or concerns about the truck just PM me. thank you. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1580 thanks for looking.
how does 5th gear handle the 3:07 third member, I've been thinking about the same exact thing.. also what was the cost involved in getting the third member welded.. thanks
considering the modifications it pulls 5th into redline but it takes a while (as expected) before all the mod's it will do just great on the highway but if you need to pass someone you obviously drop it down. otherwise...... it'll cruise 80mph @ 3000rpm's. i dont remember exactly how much i paid for the rear end to be welded although i dont remember it being much. it was a lengthy process i personally supervised to get done. Beefed Taco was the guy who welded it for me. like i mentioned, its been tested well enough. its stout.
im at a point where im essentially bored with it..... i know its likely a mistake but as of lately bikes have been calling out to me...... remembering what it felt like and given i had the opportunity to ride a street bike not so long ago around the block got my immediately addicted to it again. im like a junkie with bikes...... i can get off em for a lil bit but given i get close enough to them or try one just a little bit im immediately looking for my next fix..... i mean bike i know......... i know........... wanna buy it off me? you know you wanna.........
how much for the motor? jk.. good luck with the sale. I would find someone with a street bike and try to trade em.
its what im looking into.......... chances are unlikely it will sell since its more of a special interest vehicle. not sure what will happen at this point......
i know how u feel, i pretty much stopped workin on my other truck (one is avatar) but i still got, im going to work on it alittle bit these next few weeks and get it running. Im getting to the point that i dont have any "mods" to do to the bikes, well atleast i cant do to much of them, so im going back to my trucks. but hey take a break on the truck, just drive it around as it sits and get a bike to ride/ tinker with...just my .02
Gil mentioned he saw your truck up for sale.... I had to see it to believe it. So close to being finished man! You sure?!
yea......... its true man. ive hit a peak with the truck....... essentially..... im thinkin sell the truck, pick up a 89-94 body style possibly in an x-cab, do minor drop and wheels, then find a bike.......... either or in no particular order. if i find no interest in the truck ill likely bring it back over to stock or close enough to and pice out the performance goodies to recoup some minor amount of the money ive invested.
ok so given some thought, i will be advertising the truck up for the next month........ if no bites come in, ill be reverting the truck back to stock form and piece out the entire truck. when i do this, i plan to make an entire list of the parts that will be available for sale. if anyone is interested..... im looking for a newer 1000cc sport bike in consideration to trade for the truck as a whole.... R1 GSXR 1000, etc....
Yo Alex! If curious, I've got a buddy w/a GSXR1000 living in Chula Vista (eastside of the 805) who's considering to sell. PM me OR just ask Allan (Macrib) about it. I'm sure he's seen it too. Good luck!
Dang sorry to hear this, its like one of your kids moving out for good. You dont want them to go but gotta move on or something like that. Just ground it for life and get a bike. You will miss it to much. Well good luck. Also if you do sell i get dibbs on the rims. HA HA
Sell it if that's what makes you happy. Let me know if you ever get the bike. We'll have to go on a cruise like we did to Julian.
