yeah the main reason I wanted to run chains or something was so I can hop it I can't right now since there isn't really anything stopping the suspension travel, well there is but it's metal and metal on metal is never good. How hard is it to make upper tubulars? I don't really want to spend $300+ for something I could possibly do for a fraction of that.
if you have the tools like a welder, bender, and notcher and can read a tape measure then it probably wouldnt be that difficult but if you get the demintions wrong it can screw up alot of your steerting and suspension geomitry and if your welds are weak or you use the wrong material, the arm could snap and then cause an acident. i would just drop the $300 on the arms.
I don't have a bender or notcher. My brother does all the welding and I trust his welds. I've seen some guys make jigs when they make their arms and honestly it doesn't look to difficult, the only thing I don't know is what kind of balljoint they use or where to get em.

They are right down the road from me, and the set cost me less than $20 custom length. The advantage to straps is that the shock load will be less than chains and they are quieter (all the time). Honestly chains aren't any better than metal on metal as you will just break something else rather than the joints.
Hopping must be the kind of thing where you break a lot of parts. So having your own jigs and the ability to re make parts might be a smart idea. I dunno just using my head as much as I can this late
what kind kind of strap did you get? I saw their website but they got so much stuff it's kind of confusing. Hopping on bags isn't as bad as hydros, bags don't have that much pressure to break stuff like hydro do.
I wish I got tht much lift haha time to notch in the frame an get the new slam ss series they get one inch more than a re series
you can look into Beard straps also. Offroad designed and they are strong as hell, we use the at the offroad shop i work at and they are badass
yeah I was thinking of doing that instead. because even if I cut my arms more to clear the brackets they would still hit the bag at full lift. I might just do that and just use the low profile bumpstops.
