ok so heres what I think I want, my question is what would you add to the list or take out, can you give me any links other the LC on where I can get this and for how much and which one will work the best ? Also I plan on running some boot... I want to boost my motor with a small turbo and low boost unless I get low compression pistons.. also do you think this ebay kit is worth the money ?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=380049255613&rd=1

so heres my wishlist I guess lol

    cam
    carb
    headers (unless I run turbo)
    flywheel
    clutch (stronger then oem)
I Want to swap my 4 speed to a 5 speed
    msd ignition
    2step
I want maybe some gears for my rear end.. tired of 1 wheel wonder.

not sure what else but thats on my mind so far...

It all depends on what you want to do with your truck. The first thing to ask is "Do I want to drive it everyday?" If you do then you might not want to add too much go fast goodies. You say you want to do boost but you have carbs on your wishlist. Take it from me a blow-through setup is not worth the time or money. If you want boost go with the RE motor.

A highly modified 22R is not the best street motor. You have some people say it is and some say it doesn't but I have been messing with toyota trucks for about 17 years now and have done everything from mild to wild. Figure out what you want to do, do some research and have fun. As for links, unless you have deep pockets and I mean deep stay away from LC Engineering. They are expensive and there are others out there. Google engnbldr, DOA Racing, hell look for Old School celica sites and see what parts they have on there. Stay away from FleaBay!

I drive this everyday, its not my only vehicle but its daily. I really dont think I can make this un-streetable...and thats my main reason for staying away from LC.. TOO MUCH $$$$!!! about a year from now im going to be getting a new diesel so when I get this, I wont be driving this as much. As for what I want, I want the fastest nastiest 22r that I can afford lol... honestly... I just want to get a bunch of performance goodies so I can have fun with it and spend some time adding stuff to it.. Ive been bored with it since I got paint...

    to put it one way...

it will cost over 4k to get near or over 200hp

or you could get a 5/6/7m half cut from a supra for 2k

    or a 1/2jz

    or a 1uz

those all start off with more power then the equivalent monies spent on a 2xr

kinda pointless to try and build the 2xr into a monster, it will never be what you want it to be. plus if you get the numbers up that high, the bulett proof ness of the 2xr is now gone.

now dont get me wrong i love the 2xr motors, but i also realize its a 30yr old motor that started out life with 100hp

    understandable.

now is my theory wrong ? I thought this motor would be similar to the ones in the old corollas that are nasty when you add some thing to them ?

22r's never came in a corolla. Might be wrong but I have never seen one in there. Doesn't mean they can't be put in there by someone. ShoNuff has a very valid point though. If your gonna spend that kinda money in your truck spend it on a 7m or 2jz swap. It's been done time and time again so there is support for it out there. Or you can say screw it and throw in a V8 chevy motor in there.

I thought about going that route but decided to build up the 22re motor that will NOT be streetable and will NOT be a daily driver. Gonna spend about 3000.00 on the motor alone but I am doing all the fab work and all the tunning so the cost should be bearable. Looking to get about 250-300 out of a blown and injected 22re motor. Not going to be easy but what the hell if it doesn't work out I still have the LS1 motor sitting in my garage..LOL Good luck!

    Shootz!

no no not the 22r. i mean the 4 banger that was originaly in them, you can make them bad ass so easy. I thought it would be the same for the 22r

If you build a strong V-8,you will spend the same as building a strong 22RE.
LC built ,blueprinted, balanced, dynoed,& crated & shipped for $3800. I bought all the extras that they recommended, which took it up a notch, but I still was under what I spent on a big block V-8 .
And I have a very strong, streetable, street legal, smog legal engine!
I would recommend this to anyone wanting a strong fast engine ,also,if your not into the throttle always, gets 23 to 26 mpg!!

whats the point in building a v8 lol. just a stock 350 or 400 chevy would be enough and they are cheap to come accross just rebuild them and make sure they are good before putting them in

the eng out of the corolla's you speak of is a 2/3tc

for tech on them check out 3tc.com

as far as building the eng after a swap, thats not my point tho your more then welcome to.

you can just swap in a motor that will have more then the $3800 LC motor has out of the box. plus you have OEM reliability.

suppose i should note that i have:

2xr hybrid with a camden supercharger
    20r with a side drafts/ header
    22r with weber/offy dual plane/doug thorley
    20r with just a weber
    and a stocker 75 20r

they are all reliable, cept the SC. but they are all still lacking, i plan to take the 20/side drafts out of my celica and put a 1/2j or 1uz in there depending on pocket book and availability. im already $2k into my SC build and i still need more stuff, and the internals are stock. when all is said and done it will be in the neighbor hood of 3k but thats just cuz im building it my self, and having a good portion of the machine work done locally. but still doubt i get near 250hp.

    truck action-

have you had your truck on a dyno sence you got that motor installed?

highly curious as to what you got at the wheels and what it will do @ the track

I built a stock ls1 motor with some port work and a crane cam and pushed 420 at the flywheel, and spent about 2500 on everything granted I did alot of the work myself. The LC $3800.00 motor is far from being a strong and fast engine and you can buy the same spec'd motor from engnbldr for about 1800.00. Just my opinion on the LC motor so don't flame me. I love LC just not the motor you are speaking of. I can build a motor with that specs for about 1000.00 the key is knowing what areas make the most power and improving on those areas. Anyone can throw money at a big name company and get all the power they want but doing your homework and a good anount of research pays off in the end.

If you build anything correctly your going to be in over $4000, & I'd say that is just the start!!
Just build the 22RE,good power, reliable, good mileage, what more can be said!
LC built, balanced, dynoed, crated & shipped for $3800. I want farther with all they recommended. Have a pro street engine, reliable, smog legal, good mileage ( if you don't always have your foot into it)! 23-26mpg What more is there to say.
A built V-8 @ todays gas prices is not good, been there ,did that, got 5,2 mpg around town! Also even if your not in Ca. , more states are going to get stricter with the smog laws, it's going to happen!!
Good luck with what ever direction you go.

True, true.. It's easier for me to do all the cool things to my truck because I don't live in CA. My truck is registered back home on Guam and being in the Army, I am not required to register it here in NC. But to defend the MPG debate, I was getting about 20-24 with the stock LS1 when it was in my truck I blew the motor being stupid so I built another one, but my truck is geared out and having 350hp at the flywheel pushing around my 3000 pound truck didn't hurt as much as my Hemi motor in my Ram pushing a 7000+ pound truck.

Alot of good points have been made in this post and as you said I wish him luck in whatever direction he goes. Stay with a Yota motor, but when your ready for some stupid power then you can think about swapping in a V-8 motor. Keep in mind that the engine is just a small part of the equation though. The rest of your drive line will have to be beefed up also, and that invloves some serious fab work.
