A cop looked at my ute and said its to low. Apparently the road rule here in Victoria, I dont about the rest of Autralia, states that the lowest point cannot be less than 100mm/10cm's. What ever that is in inches i dunno atm. I guess the bracket underneath my leaf springs is lower than 100mm/10cm's. Im annoyed now. Ive been told to raise it. :/ What could i do to keep it low but not have anything below 100mm/10cm's? Atm its just got lowering blocks.
go around ur truck. measure from the floor up to ur frame, and if u can cut something to keep it within spec then do it
using drop leafs might help since they stay up closer to the axle. australia and new zealand have more strict rules then here. i think in nz you can only lower a truck 2" legally.
Man, that must be so krap. Im gonna see what i can do about my heights after work. See if i can use the workshop
Hi, Nicked this of street commodores... I'm looking for the Vic legislation for you in the transport department. From what I have been told NZ is the same as here, try talking to the bloke with the corolla.
ah yeah, oks. I measured the lowest point, 80mm :/ I took the drop blocks off after work. Ill look into lowered leafs and smaller blocks. I want to tuck wheel into the arch but i still want my lowest height above 100mm. :S
body drop it.. hmm, i drive everyday, so its kinda hard, :/ builind a lolux and having to drive it everyday gets hard. But the job gets done quicker. and how am i going to drop the cabin? The tub looks simple.
If you can't be down for a few, then you can't do it I guess. I only suggested because its a great solution to beat the system. It doesn't drop the frame at all and you gain a few inches of drop or the effect of drop I guess.
ah ok. Ill have a think about that.. I prob wont do it. Been pretty busy on the Lux. I should get on the PC and upload all the new pics... When i get time.. When i get time, haha.
NZ is relatively good for car mods and legality. Clear set of guidelines on what is legal without getting it inspected by an engineer (over 100mm excluding exaust is the key one) and once the engineer is involved then you are mainly only pulled up on safety issues, ride height basically has to be enough to ensure a flat tyre doesn't drop you on the road. Relatively easy to get airbags, hydros, body drops etc legal. I mean my ute started as station wagon and has been fully approved for road use. Callum
u could try dont a plate flip... put the leaf spring plat on top then u would have to get square u bolts... and get the plates from a 4wd truck...
