Basically I want to lower my Lux.
Torsion bars: how is this done? show me a pic?
Leafs: if i choose to remove one, which one do i remove? and what drop am i going to achieve from removing one leaf? atm my ute is sitting pretty high. :S

 

Torsion bars you just loosen them an leaf you pull the middle one out. Just pulling a leaf you'll get an inch or two. Torsions you could get alot more

 

So dont bother pulling a leaf, an inch isnt enough, ill buy new leafs or get old ones reset.
which way do i wind the torsion, ive heard 'wind them in' and 'wind them out'. :S thnx

 

For the front:

Basically on the torsions you are going to back off the lock nut (circle 2) and loosen the bolt (circle 3). This will lower the front end. There are torsion adjusters on both sides....make sure you back them both out the same amount so the front end is level when you are done. (Do this with the front end off the ground (on jack stands))

For the rear:

I removed the middle leaf. It is the one thats clamped to the main. It gave me somewhere between 1 and 2 inches of drop. I also used a 3 inch block.

haha 'standard' yeah im in Aus. laws are pretty strict here. im guess you are in the states. what are road laws like in your state?

 

allright, my mate gave me big lowering blocks, must be at least 3-4inch. I didnt pull a leaf, but i might when i get new rims. Ill prob go with 18inch rims off a ford territory.

ok, so i finally got around to lowering the front.
Had trouble loosening lock nut, but a smack of a hammer helped.
Now to see if i wound them equally, take out jack/jack stands and see if its good.

Btw, do the bumpstops on the front need cutting down..?

Just lowered my 91 2wd pickup today. I went to autozone and paid $32 for a 3" lowering block kit for the rear and I did the torsion bar drop in the front until the 2" drop spindles I ordered come in. It was fairly easy, the hardest thing was torqueing the nuts on the rear, it made me break a sweat!!! I can honestly say the ride is not that bad, but I know the ride will be alot better with the drop spindles on. I will post pics tomorrow

try not to over do it,ive seen sum pretty botched out suspensions and ive seen some impressive stuff too.the key here is to take baby steps and small adjustments.

 

it always looks nicer when te center of gravity is reduced....lol

hey my truck is allthe way adjusted down in the front and it still does not seem low enough and it rides really stiff what can i do

 

dude! you can get 3"-4" lowering springs i for around $300nzd i believe new zealand is stricked on lower but ours say dont need a cert for over 100mm from drive train!!

your siting on your bump stops, you need to cut them down

 

Dude Mono Leaf the rear and pull the torshins out... set her on the frame and bouncy bouncy down the road...
