Hey whats up guys? My name is Ashton and I just bought my second yota (first one blew up) But i'll probably be on here quite often now that i've found the site. Just wanted to introduce my self.
And maybe ya'll can help me out too. When the rpm's are low the truck doesn't want to stay running and the fuel filter isn't staying full of fuel so obviously it's a fueling issue before the filter right? By the way it's an 80 with a 20r. Any help is appreciated.
Welcome to the site & as for your problem if the filter is fine then it might be your fuel pump. Your lucky cause if Im correct those model trucks the mechanical pump so they are pretty easy to change. Another thing that will cause the problem your having is bad plug wires...also check your plugs & make sure they are not fouled out.
Hello and welcome to toyotaminis! Glad to hear you found us and plan to stick around! Feel free to jump right in and help others and let them help you, feel free to share some pictures of your ride when you get a chance. Most of us here are forced ( not like they are twisting are arms, just is not a place yet ) to start a new thread under customization and post there along with any updates and mods you do. . . . As for your fuel problem I would have to agree with the fuel pump because after almost 30 years ( assumption - if it hasnt been changed ) . . . Im sure its become worn out and is screaming to be replaced, hence why if the filter is good but flow is bad. One thing on these trucks that Ive learned, is to change oil often, radiator fluid flushed and checked often, and keep the basic service recommendations complete. Plugs & wires, cap, and rotor are the most important but most forgotten. . . Welcome to Toyotaminis man !
Thanks guys. Yeah I figured it was the fuel pump so I guess i'll be going to pick one of those up today. I'll get some pictures of it up as soon as figure out how to post them. This forum is set up differently than the others i'm used to.
Thanks. So just for reference before I start...Where is the pump? Is it right there next to the valve cover or is it back in the tank?
