Decided to break off the thread.

Anyway, I got the intake piping figured out, it's not perfect, but i'll have to replace it with something better later.
1. It is MUCH better than the PREVIOUS setup I had... The one I made when I was effin 14years old.


I need to splice off the harness for the VAFM. Any tips with this?

I didn't have one of those autozone DIY intake things... Sooooo I used my factory aibox.

AND NO IT DOESN'T FIT... when it's in ONE piece....

so i took my saw and cut off the bottom portion of the airbox hahahahah. Now that bitch fits.

I took out my battery. Immediated grounded the negative wires.
Then I placed the battery on the drivers side. I already drilled a hole in there for the tie-down... a year ago.
I then put the other bolt through the rad support..... and i broke a bolt... YAY. Gotta drill that out next!!!

Other than that, I need to extend the positive wires with my booster cable, and then make a ground for the battery in its new location.

Things I need to do...
1. Splice Harness
2. Ground Battery
3. Extend Cables
4. Where da **** do i put my windshield wiper fluid thing?!!?!?!!?!!?

 

I just did mine to see how everything fit. Stock airbox didn't fit unless I removed the wiper bottle. I untaped my VAF meter around the firewall so no cutting needed. Intake tube didn't fit because it was hitting the A/C lines . Long story short, I put everything back to stock for now. Post pics on how yours goes, maybe you will have better luck than me.

 

4. Just move um closer to the radiator.

Do you extend the positive cable that comes out the fuse box and goes to the positive on the battery? Is that the one that needs extending? If not i was gonna do what the other guy did and just use a really small battery.

 

I unbolted a cable for the starter on a old chevy in the junkyard. I then bolted this cable to both the fuse box cable and starter cable and taped it up. No cutting needed. Ran the wire to the driverside added a new ground to the body and started it right up. Just couldn't get the wiper bottle and rad overflow to fit right. Will try again later- somedays you just don't get it right and need to start over

 

I was told the only thing i needed to extend was the Positive's.

The ones that WERE on the negative, I grounded to the body.
You make another wire to ground the battery's negative to the body.


Tron, I took my windshield fluid thing out. My pipe bumped into the AC lines, so i shoved the ac line's down haha.
I'm going to throw the windshield fluid thing somewhere, or make a custom resevoir(spelling?) for it.

Remember, I cut the bottom part of my airbox in HALF.... lol....

so far so good. I got the battery bolted down well, grounded it.

now i'm working on the extending the wires.

i'm doubling up on my booster cables....

positiv wire. and pos from fuse box i used a distro solid brass block then ran a new from the battery to the distro block.

 

Alright. Just finished. RUNS GREAT

What I love the most about it? When i'm hitting "high rpm's" and the effin truck SCREAMS ehehheeheheh

To answer this, I had a huge roll of electrical tape i grabbed from the gym in my school....
and this stuff is strong... pulled some paint off my truck with it... **$!$#**
So I just used it.

From VAFM to TB
Some factory piece "sealed onto" a 1" piece of 3" ABS pipe, a 3" 90 degree bend from Lowes, and then some intercooler coupling i grabbed from my friend's performance shop (tricky part.... soft tube over a soft tube... yellow TAPE , seal that stuff!)

everything is clamped down and "sealed"... that was my major concern.
So that's what i need to be improved, the intake pipe. I might use a 4runner 90* bend if i can get one. .. or something similar.


On the firewall, there's yellow tape because.... I had to split the VAFM harness lol.

 

kinda off topic here but you so need to take the rad top back to copper man that would look pretty sweet if ya ask me. use like a brass bruxh and then clear it with a rattle can

 

I layed down some flat black, but that was a long time ago. I'll be brushin that stuff sometime soon. I just never really noticed how bad it peeled haha

 

Seriously. Isn't copper/gold/brass your main accent color of the truck? Get that bitch lookin better. I need to get an aluminum one soon since my stock one finally burst. HAHAHA.

 

always wondered how you get the maf sensor on that side of the truck. now i know.......nice job!

Mines almost done- just need to tuck in the wires. The intake tube comes out by the front tire for cooler air

 

Hey Nam, what did you do with the vacuum switches that were mounted on top of the valve cover? I've been wanting to clean all that stuff up but I need it pass smog. Looks really good!

 

I tucked most the vaccum hoses & misc stuff down between the intake manifold & valve cover...Oh & your intake mod is looking good!
