Do I need the bar that's bolted to my frame that goes under the transmission pan? The reason I ask is I am about to change the tranny filter and I'm not putting it back if I don't have to Looks like a piece of metal pipe with 2 17mm or so bolts holding it down on each end....
Ya those are your torsion bars basically it's the front suspension. Instead of coils you have the torsion bar you could loosein them an slam it flip your ball joints drop spindles drop a arms there's alot you could do
If you talking about the round piece of pipe that's bolted to the frame then you dont need that! One of the first things that I took off my truck, pull that crap off & trash it!
I too believe that is what he means and here is a pic of it. I also have always removed them. (credit goes to 73TRD for the photo)
I have to agree with smctoy of removing and it won't matter because my friend had also removed that. My friend also mention that round piece of pipe is not necessarily needed so that's why might as well take it off. It makes sense too, if no use, no need to place it, it just add some weight.
I use it as a scrape warning device. Living in the country, you run gravel roads. If that bar scrape I know I'm to low for that road
I thought that bar was there to keep the torsion bars from getting to low? Mine has some small bends underneath the torsion bar?
I think thats the sway bar. And im sure if the engineers designed the truck with it there it has some purpose.
That bar just has a clamp on each end holding to to the frame. Cant do but so much, I lost mine on the interstate about 2 years ago after I drug through both brackets
