PROJECT DATSUN OK since their is no other Topic Section for this its going here. If a moderator is upset with it being here, PM me before you do anything. Dont worry I wont take up the whole forum with pics either just what I think is needed. As the KISS thingo goes Keep It Simple Stupid.... Started this morning just clearing the junk around it and seeing whats needed. Cannot do anymore until I get a helping hand towing the maga and some effing heavy metal out of the way... Spot the Datsun??? If you can read it it says: Type: GN 620 (flatbed known as 1500) Its the same thing Eng. Capacity: 1483cc Max HP / RPM: 77hp/5200RPM (SAE) Wheel Base: 2785mm Engine type: J15 Chaasis number: GN 620-615869 Engine: Missing the alternator; diffrent engine is most likely going in anyway... Front after getting rid of the family of sleeping tiapans... they were not happy. Thats Tiapan for the Australian Eastern Tiapan...Oxyuranus scutellatus. Look it up. Bonnet was deep in the shed but I found it. Otherside.... A decent sand blast will get that out. If anyone wants specific pics just ask will be happy to post them up... Just waiting to upload the other 300 pics...
Just to let everyone know they are Phone pics... rather wreak the cheap phone then the expensive camera...
Well at the moment I am casual with work. So I have the spare time. Not going to worry about the hood as it is too far gone but it will be my practice peice learning thin sheet. Learnt how fun it was skull dragging the datsun (which is a year older than the lux) up and down the bit of hill by myself. Removed all the pipe and steel off the back to find a reasonable, but straight, chassis. When I went in the shed to grab the chain I spotted the spare. Only have to grind the rear of the tray off as I remeber the old man ran out of bolts. Pictures up soon.... Asked the neighbour if I could 'test' out his sandblaster but it is off with one of his family members in townsville (2000km give or take serveral hundred) so I looked online and found a how to make thread. Tray is going off tomorrow and front off in the next couple of days; Interior and cab to follow. The little but strong J15 off last. For those that want to know. Chassis rails at the rear sit 400mm, middle rails sit 200mm, at rear diff sits only 70mm. Might not do the 4 inch drop as previously planned.
Pictures are up... Skull dragging up: Still with some of the Beep on the back.... ... And the side we couldn't see (plenty of rust onder that door ) Working with cars all my life I don't mind a bit of rust. The Beep coloured station wagon I rebuilt which was the last project. Puts out 411hp at the rear... Waiting for repaint before sell but I think it has charm doing 160km/h passing other holdens with ease.
Just a sample of what I am up agianst on the war against rust.... If that is bad try the drivers floor under the vynil
Had a decent look and a few calls this arvo for spare parts From various places... Front guard: 150 Style side: 2000+ Windscreen rubber: 110 Chrome Front Bumper: 250 Bonnet: 250 Front Indcator: 40 Chrome Grill: 200 Door Shell: 250 Sill Panel: 100 Weather Strips: 150 Thats just for pick up....
Done a little bit more this morning, but stopped as I have work in 2 hours... Pics: Tray off: Second shot: That will take a while to fix..... Grill off: Lights and indicators next: Tyre carrier will get 'flipped' eventually with an polished aluminium cover thats getting bolted to the tray. for something different. Plans: Clean a spot in the shed to store parts Clean the floor of the datsun Remove bench seat Cab off hopefully by next week
There is two sets one which is the closest, thats the two red singles running from the exhaust, I have no idea where it goes. The second is the furthest and that was for the left and right rear tail lights and a seven core plug. That only needed 5 peices of wire all up why it has 17 in one spot idk. I will post a pic just for you tomorrow when im stripping the interior.
Lol. It was actually done on old GTOs. The switch worked off a vaccum tho. Something like >>>>>waldronexhaust.com
