according to my computer it says short wheel base is 13.7 gal and the long wheel base is 17.2 gal. The long bed fuel tank holds 19.3 gal. Hope this helps.

I generally filled up in my long bed at around 14.5 gallons... give or take the 17 seems about right.

17 is what I read also. Mine's an 85 longbed and think it was listed in the owners manual. But when my gauge is nearly on E, I've only ever managed 12 or so gallons in it. Been contemplating putting the gas can in back and running it dry to check. Any problems with doing that? It's got a carburetor, not fuel injection.
