Figured I would finally start a build thread for my 93... How it started in 2003 with 29,000 on the clock truck sat for 6 years, great for the mileage but wherever it sat killed the frame rust on the drivers side mostly... It also froze the front calipers... the guy I got it from drove it like that and burned up the clutch too So $3,400 for the truck and $1000 to fix it, which I think wasn't too bad for a 10yo truck with under 30,000 miles on it Here are the basics now...
93 2wd std cab... sway-a-way torsion bars belltech front sway bar chassis tech drop spindles black magic fan ball joint flip drop leafs 92-95 4runner front clip urethane bushings 4wd front calipers and 12.19" wilwood rotors 2003mustang cobra svt rims 17x8 front 17x9 rear 215 50 17 fronts 275 40 17 rears shaved tailgate handle power windows and locks power steering (was a manual) toyota sport buckets (two drivers seats US and JDM) tilt column delayed wipers quick release steering wheel 10 fuse block added under stereo on a seperate selinoid windshield washer fluid heater here she is as last driven two years ago here she is now

How do you move a truck with no suspension off a lift...??? Skates! it's a 16 wheeler now! LOL! Here are some pics moving whats left of my truck today... need the lift so she had to come off the 64 gto needed a new speedo cable and the wipers fixed the 06 gto needs it's new drop coilover kit installed the 10 f150 needs an oil change the 08 fj cruiser needs it's oil changed (when it comes back from the shop, I guardrailed it the other day driving too fast as usual) oh and my mothers 07 MB ml350 needs brakes So since my 8.8 exploder axle won't be back from the axle guy for 2 weeks The truck had to move! My 8.8 axle is getting narrowed, new bearings, new seals new LSD clutch plates, pinion angle will be set 2degrees off stock for the 3" drop, all the extra brackets will be off and the perches will be mounted! swapping to a mustang driveshaft end and pinion flange...can't wait to get it back! This started as a $200 swap... doing it right has run $700 so far and I'll probably buy new rotors and pads if not a set of calipers too before it's done. plus Lokar makes an awesome universal e-brake cable kit for the exploder rear.. $110+shipping ofcourse! here is for you pic hounds! as she sits today... here is my resident barn guard spider Here is a couple of those favorite paint jobs of mine again since PB took the last one down Just paint fellas no clothes at all!
95-01 ford explorer mine is actually out of a 98 mercury mountaineer... same thing... the second one is just for the short side axle cut the long side axle tube stick in the short axle from another rear and you got a 56 3/4 inch wide rear... stock is 57 or if you have room for a wider axle just stick it in stock like rajzswap did to his truck http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5308
not much for a good rear actually... it adds up quick when you have a shop do the work too $300 for two 8.8 rears from the junk yard another $300 for the shop work axle tube cut, bearings replaced, seals, brackets cut off, perches reset, clutch plates for the limited slip replaced, pinion flange changed, pinion bearing and seal replaced, new rear cover, new 3" wheel studs. parking brake shoes $38 hardwar $22 plus rotors, may just run the calipers and pads I have as they are good. Need an e-brake cable $110 considering how much a disc brake kit and a limited slip would cost for the stock rear and I would still have a wimpy 7.5 rear... when I get a v8 in there this rear will pay off!
got my narrowed 8.8 back.. here is some pics of my stack of truck parts and my ford rear I had "budget" narrowed... I still have to por-15 it and put the disc brakes back on seems a ford ranger uses the same spicer u-joint and with the diff being the same depth I was able to just swap on the ranger diff joint and not have to mod my driveshaft at all... this rear is 56.5" wide my stock rear is 57" 3:73 posi with 11.25 disc brakes and in-hat e-brakes 31 spline axle 8.8 ring gear the pinion angle was set to the stock rear the last pic is the two 8.8 rears I started with they were combined into one the first two axle pics are next to the stock toyota 7.5
