Hey guys, I'm new here. I've had 4 4wd Toys and this is my first 2wd. I Just bought it. It's a 91 xtracab with a V6/ auto. The guy who owned it before put a 2" drop and lower profile tires. I love the truck!

The problem I'm having though is it only shifts into overdrive intermittently. The seller thought it might be an electrical problem. I thought maybe the trans needed flushing. Got that done and they put in some type of additive to help clean any stuck solenoids. I haven't driven it much since the flush but it's still doing it so far. I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas on what I might check.

If you had the tranny flushed & it still doesnt want to shift into overdrive then If it were me Id take it to a shop & have it hook up to their diagnostics machine. They may be able to find out if there is some type of electrical problem or if the overdrive switch has gone bad.

 

Thx. Ya that's what I think I'll do. I know the guy at the trans shop so it shouldn't be a big deal to bring it back. Just thought there was something else I could check out at home.
