Hey, another new guy here. Found some good info here so I signed up. :D I've got a 1980 4x4 longbed with a 20r that I've named Bessie. She's completely stock and somewhat rusty but a very nice truck. I picked her up a few years ago, but only now have the time to work on her....So here I am on the interweb researching. Got to start somewhere I guess.

ooh ooh i got ideas. chevy 3/4 ton axles on 1/2 ton chevy lift springs with 35x12.50x15s. something clean that will fit easily with enough power. maybe something like a 1uz. lol. that's all spur of the moment thinking there.

Yea that's too much for me.:) I may put stock chevy springs in the rear, and maybe the trd locker mod too. But need to sort out the electrical and engine first. The previous owner spliced and cut all kinds of crap out of the truck. I want to get the electrics back to factory. It's a real PITA trying to find out whats shorted/not working when nothing matches your manual anymore. Thanks for the welcome guys.:D

you won't have to do a thing with the wiring if you get a 350 and a painless wiring kit.:drool::drool:

I intend to make her my daily driver again. :D When I first bought the truck I had planed to cut her up and make a crawler. Fate stepped in and made her my only means of transport instead. Despite being severely neglected she got me through alot. When things turned around I kept her. Now I can't bear the thought of cutting her up. I plan on doing what I guess is called a resto mod. It's a very capable truck in stock trim, only thing I'm wanting to add is a rear selectable locker. And maybe Chevy springs in the rear. Oh and power steering.:p

There's no way I'm putting a 350 in there. Those eat too much..
