I was wondering if we could start another area in the FAQ for part interchangeability. I'd like to swap some things in that aren't specifically for an '80, but are direct swaps.

From what I've been able to figure out so far:

up to 78, coil spring suspension
    79-95 torsion bar
84-95 can swap many parts, mostly driveline and some body panels (fenders, etc)
    transmissions are all bolt in
18/20/22r all bolt in since based off same architecture

Of course I'm not talking about this stuff - I was wondering if the beds in 79-83 are the same dimensions as 84-95? I saw a bed liner for a 93 for $50 and wondered if it would fit.
If my torsions are weak, are they the same part as the 84-95 part?
Do later seats fit 79-83? I almost grabbed buckets from an '86 SR5 and thought they would be a bolt in.

I figured this info would be a goldmine for anyone in my position, so why not post it and make it sticky, so that people can just go there? That's the first thing I looked for when I got here, since the old board I was on (hybridz.org) has TONS of that. There was a whole forum just for that kind of stuff, all sorted by model.

Just a thought. With a truck that changed as little as the Toyota, even between the Hilux / Tacoma, there should be tons of things that can be directly swapped. :waytogo:

Real good idea. Are we guna do something like:

"3VZE water pump is interchangeable with 199x Nissan ??"

Like that? or just yota specific?

Either one id say would be good. Cuz theres alot of sh!t i learned bout my previous car came to be like that.

I'm thinking between Pickup models. We could add the other stuff too. I was just talking things that didn't change between models, like the center console on my '80 seems to be used on the previous model. Stuff like that.

But I'm sure there's a ton of parts that can be stolen from Celicas also.

The motors swap from a Supra. But cannot be done the other way around due to lack of power.

    :rolleyes::runaway:

I say we just keep getting info on this thread. Update it and later when the info accumulates make a new thread with everything in it with less mumbo jumbo and get it stickied
