Yep those are the DJM's. Newer year, but here's a pic of mine. Middle leaf pulled, 3" blocks, DJM arms, cranked torsions. Pipe notch, stock shocks. I cut the gas tank crossmember out and notched the one at the back of the cab for the driveshaft. There was huge dent in the middle of the bed from the axle, and the bolt-in x-member under the bellhousing was half drug thu by the time I bagged it. I miss it static drop, I think I need another one.
bought the djm arms through summit racing for $205 shipped its on my 86. although they only list it for 88-94? they still fit
Alright all this time i been deciding how low i want to drop my truck. After looking through this thread looks like im going to go with a 4 or 5 inch block. Ill lower it a bit and see how it lines up with my rims. I just got a set of mustang 17s and i just want it to go to the top of the tire. For the front it looks like DJM arms and cranked torsions for the rest of the way.
i pretty much think that thee best drop look is set to the height where the fenders and the tires finally close the gap. slight tuck maybe but thats it right there....... its different with every truck, wheel, and tire combo but for the most part..... closed tire-to-fender gap.
Yeah thats what i was trying to say. Usually about how much drop is it to close the gap with say 17s?
well lets see....... i would have to say (depending on the sidewall size) around 4 - 4 1/2 maybe 5 inches from stock height. it really depends because the bigger the wheel, the less it will take given you will run (usually) around a 50-40 series tire.
5" blocks it is then. Thanks for the help. Ill try mount the rims and then measure to see how big the gap still is.
not sure but a 5" block is gonna have alot of leverage..... if you even remotely drive it hard or like to take off the line quick its gonna wrap axle like a bitch!
hahah i got 5in blocks on my truck and they arent even angled blocks with all my leafs. i dont seem to have any problems i can put more load in the back of my truck and still have a good ride. my truck rarely bottoms out and i still have a decent stance
do you have any pictures of this? im curious to see how much space is left between the frame and axle...
average amount of space..im thinking 3inh ches or so without bumpstops...the ride is good because he still has all the leafs to keep it stiffer and preventing it from bottoming out often. alot of trucks in hawaii have 5inch blocks and they have a nice stance but be sure to remove bumstop and put low profile ones...
i currently dont got pics of the setup right now. i currently reside in vegas and my truck is back in hawaii but ill ask my bro to take some pics of it. if i recall i have like an inch or 2 of gap between the axle and the frame
Yeah, thanks guys. Hawaii represent. Also just noticed since i got a extra cab i probably going have to cut out the cross member for driveshaft clearance. And yeah now that i think about it a lot of trucks do run 5" blocks down here, a lot are singe cab though if im not mistaken.
