It was an absolute blessing to have had a 2-3 days of dry weather so that I could get some work done on the trucks. Without a garage or even a carport to work under, it's tough to get anything done. Now, (NorCal) is expecting showers and rain 8 out of the next 10 days. Not quite the thorough dousing we got the last two weeks, but wet nonetheless. Tempting to rent a garage out of one of those storage facilities, but they're $180+ a pop out here. They do have a promotion going where the first month is only $1....but after all the hidden costs...move in actually comes out to about $30+ - not bad. But that's just for the first month. For now, the 72' project sits under a couple of layers of tarp and a car cover.
ya its horrible i went out to my truck these past few days got in it and there was a puddle on my floor so now i need to fix the window rubber and pul the carpet
I'd check your door gaskets, too. When I first bought my 77' I was finding puddles, too. Replaced the windshield gasket, and was STILL finding puddles. Although much smaller ones. Turned out the door gaskets were contributing to the puddles, too. Take your time pulling the carpet. Unless it's all torn apart already, it can still be salvaged. For some reason I have a thing for the original carpets, so whenever I find them in the yards where they aren't torn or ripped and most of the finish on the edges are still good - I pull em'. Muddy and all. Nothing a good steam cleaning can't handle.
I know us here in Nevada can't really complain about weather, but in the last week we got more rain than the last year. And if we keep getting rain than we will have more rain than in the last 2 years. And I know how you feel, the weather destroyed all my previous work. The flat bed took a beating. All my plywood curled and cracked all my glass work, destroyed my partially glassed wheel wells and shorted out all my electricals. Some of my friends said I should have water proofed it, Well I didn't know we were going to get a a$$ load of water dumped on us before I finished all the glass work. Mother Nature can be such a bit@h some times.
seattle is just as bad. some days even being under cover doesnt keep you dry if its not totally in a shop. but, seems like all the west coast has had a couple days drier
I refuse to work out side on my vehicals the way I see it I have to be out side to make a living Im not going do it for my hobby besides its nice to shut the doors and walk away at times and thats why the garage sets the pressadents over the house I can live in a garage but the cars cant go in the house
I need to find where water is getting in to mine too. Last week the floor was damp after a few days of rain. Not to mention ileft my camshafts on the driver seat and now some of the lobes are rusted
First place to look is your kick panels on each side. TOUCH THEM. They may look dry, like mine did, but when I finally started digging around I realized they were soaked. In reality, there's only so many places it can come in and find it's way to the floor boards. You'll trace it eventually.
ya i NEED to find it dont want rust does anyone know where i can find seals for the doors and door glass?
