cheers byker!!! will get onto it soon, have a feeling that the 4age will be a bit lighter that the 12r pig, probably a good idea to do it all then aye, lol.

one of my friends made that mistake, spent thousands on a suspension system then changed the motor to a newer alloy block number, f**k it was a laugh. raised the front back up by 80mm

also cheers for the brake booster advice, think mines rooted and 81s seem to be all over the place

well i started with a set of 4" djm aluminum ones. their ubolts suck badly and kept stretching. so then the block would move and broke off. i called them, they said it wasnt under warranty and i should buy new ones. i did cuz i had to. those broke in like a week. i called again, they said i should try the steel ones. and theyd give me 20 bucks off. i told them to eff off. i then cut the blocks down to the flat panel inside, keeping the lower half of each. those were each about 2-1/4" tall. i drilled out the center of them so i could use a common pin between each block and the leaf pack. and my leaf pack only had 4. i took that aftermarket add a leaf off. then eventually took the stock center leaf out too. i had a 4wd shop bend me up grade 8 ubolts that were slightly thicker bar stock. this truck has 2-1/2" axle tubes instead of the common 3". so i needed ones that fit properly. next step is probably to 4 link it. i need another inch or two in the back.

and you are totally welcome for the help. thats why this site is awesome. its karma, ill find useful info from somebody when i need it.

    heres some photos.

    yea 4 link man

definately four link it, im kicking myself about this magazine i bought which had a full write up on performance four link geometry and specs, i thought to myself i should stick this in a 'special place' for when i need it....famous last words man:brickknock:
reckon you could do it pretty cheaply too, seen guys make their own coilovers with a bit of threaded tube and a mig welder

id really like to. when i do, i already have the bars. 90-95 4runners have a factory 4 link, with nice burly lower bars. so do the toyota privia minivans. so i have 4runner lowers for my uppers, and privia lowers for my lowers. i was going to use the rear strut from some small car with a lowering spring. set the mounts to have the ride height i want. but my bigger problem is keeping the rear end from poking into the bed floor. lol. its close.

    awesome lol,
yea man got the old budget blues too, by the time i change the engine, and if i were to make my own chassis, that just there would cost me $1450 just in certification fees....doesnt even include how much it would cost to do it, which would be what? 500-1000?(yea right, theres always hidden costs:lol:)
itd probably work out in my favour though, i think if i were to sell it i would get way more than i put in but still, huge cash outlay

speaking of budget, got a quote for some air risers today - $400 no way!
so my mate down the parts shop gonna throw me a pair out the back door for $200 lol gotta love trade price.

and am totally disappointed at the local junkyards they havent got anything anymore and have gotten expensive

-we would all be rich if we didnt like cars-

Still doing a silvertop 20v? Going turbo or just n/a? I was pondering the idea of a blacktop with cams but Im sticking with going the v6 route.

yea im goin with the 20v silvertop, scored one with the 7 rib block so itl take a turbo or a supercharger with minimal effort, what v6 you goin with man?
the black tops are all good, one of my mates races off roaders, his has a blacktop, and he got his to sing, the thing flies. its got silvertop components in it though....

Probably a VG30E from the 80s 300zx... I just picked up a stock eaton m62 supercharger thats made for the VG33E engine but everything bolts up the same, should make 200hp easy on stock boost with probably 220+ torque. Thats all the power im looking for, Just want it to be fun, im installing a big turbo on my 87 300zx I have so thats my fast car.

today for the first time in ages i did a bit of work on the old pick up, panel and paint mostly
since my last update i think all i have done is stripped and painted the chassis as well as the under body with chassis-black, and today, i started top coat, photos soon...

*could anyone tell me the stock rim size and tyre profile?*

decided today the 16s have to go, cool but not my flavour

    Holy old thread batman.

I have literally not touched my pick up in a year! Im getting back into it though in a big way at the moment, have heaps to update. Jumped back on to TM to try and get some motivation and it has totally paid off. I also have to move the truck out of here in a month so I've gotta get it on the road.
    Might buy these....What ya reckon?

    Old school cheviot hustlers
Will def. upload some more soon.
Since the last update I've reconditioned and re jetted a 32/36 weber to 40/42 and made a manifold adapter setup to mount it all up, fairly easy to do for all those out there. Now i need to sort a reliable accelerator Linkage, have had it running and it sounds great! Can't wait to drive it, the entire body has been stripped back to metal and primed as well as the engine bay and under carriage. Have gone off my previous paint choice of graphite, would love to do a rust patina, rat rod style...dunno though might be a bit sh*t.
Had to rebush the door hinges to eliminate some slop to keep the warrant of fitness guy happy, dumb but it's nice to have no play in the doors, turned some out of nylon tube.
    Need ideas for tail lights?
Til then il keep trawling the forums to keep morale up

Hey, any one have pics of the stock fuel tank mounting? Mine is mounted to the flat deck and is ropey at best.....or any clever custom methods? Also what is the stock final tyre size? Chur

Yea it's weird, I've never seen a well side rn here, only flat beds, I nearly bought the one and only well side tray I've ever seen off a farm, but it was quite literally falling apart it was so rusty.....

...maybe it's so us kiwis can fit heaps of sheep on the back to shag, and them Aussies have the means to transport their oversize criminal wife mums LOL
