http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/1551825661.html I'm liking how they do there lifts in Hawaii. Only thing no diggin the small tires other than that they have some badass trucks over there.
Thats the "thing" over there, runnin big lift with smaller but wide tires. Some of 'em look pretty cool.
lets see higher center of gravity + 33's (can fit stock) + same or less ground clearance than stock = retarded
You guys should check out all the damn yotas over there for sale a bit pricey but god some of them are beautiful
But what you gotta remember is all they deal with is sandy beaches. I don't think they run into much mud or rock crawling over there.
so they should be building ifs, lower center of gravity, lots of suspension travel.... not tippy, jacked up, solid axled, weak suspension component (like 8" shackles lol), 4cyl, likely non regeared. those trucks are just plain gay........on status with donks I can appreciate pretty much every sort of modified car look and sport..................but not this
I like the wheels, definately looks cool. The trucks are just a little too tall for my taste. I'd ride around the beaches in one of those any day of the week.
I just don't see how you can make that claim. Maybe we are looking at different trucks. IFS is arguably much gayer (yeah, I said it) than a solid axle. The one for sure is regeared to 5.29s. The other doesn't say. Those trucks have a decent amount of suspension travel. With that arched of springs they are gonna be pretty stiff. I'm sure they flex a bit. As far as weak suspension components like 8" shackles, I don't see that either on these trucks, and even if there were, I can't remember ever hearing of a shackle failure. Why the hostility? These are fun looking beach runners. I certainly wouldn't hate on them for running big lifts. To each their own. To their credit, I see Hawaii carving out their own niche of styles in both the street truck scene and the off road scene.
thats well over 12 inches of lift, hes probably looking at 19 to 22 inches right there which is amazing. The lift looks good hes got no blocks in it, all springs. These truck are so light long shackles would not make a difference because its not going to break with no weight on it. he needs to put some 44s on there on some 15x12s or 17x15s lol also with those 5.29 gears I bet it drives close to stock with those heavy wheels
i had a buddy running down the desert at like 40mph in his solid axle and then this Army Ranger flies by in his Hummer at like 80mph smoothly with the IFS personally, SAS or IFS depends on your application. if you wanna go crawl around the place, SAS is for you. if you wanna go romp around the place and have some baja style fun, IFS is your choice.
Actually it's not that simple either. If you want to run on decent IFS stuff it get's costly, so it's more like if you want to go romp around the place and have some baja style fun and break the bank while doing it, an IFS lift is right for you. If you want a truck that will preform well in all types of terrain and hold up to the abuse of hard 4x4 use all while maintaining a reasonable budget then a solid axle is by far the better choice.
IFS has limits factory wise (e.g. 35" on a IFS is pushing it) but choosing the right upgrades will net you the best quality depending where you go. eh, it all depends...
Alright then. Bring it. Show me how buck for buck you would build a better IFS wheeler.Every attempt I have ever seen at a serious IFS offroad machine was extremely costly.
