So i just got a 20r head off ebay. LC Engineering stage 2 camshaft, Lc valvesprings, Polished intake with adapter for holly carb, milled to fit 22r block. Anybody else running a 20r head on 22r block, if so what mods do you have done to the head? What carb u running? How does it perform?
hey wats up... i got a 22r but i need to replace the carb on it i just dont wan spend too much for the side drafts.. wat u guys recomend.?? iv heard weber has a good one and havent heard too much about edlbrock..?
Weber 32/36 DGEV . . . Well, you could run a Weber conversion carburator . . . Frinzo used to run a Weber 38 before he changed his to sidedrafts, ( With his recommendation ) I recently bought and installed my 32/36 DGEV ( which is an electric choke ) " Works awesome on my stock motor ! " Or you can run a manual choke. The reason I did mine was so I could use my stock choke wire and avoid running a manual choke cable. If you have a " stock " motor. . . most postings Ive read recommend using the 32/36 models, if you update cam or any other internal components of the engine, run the Weber 38's. Heres the lowest price Ive found for my conversion . . . http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Pickup-20R-22R-Weber-Carburetor-Conversion-Kit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em123QQcategoryZ33550QQihZ006QQitemZ160223020070QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD7V
Yea, stock motor u can run either a 32/36 or the 38mm. On a stock motor, i wouldnt run a sidedraft! i have alot of motor work done to mine and they still only recommend me to run a 40mm sidedraft. U just have to decide what u want. the way the 32/36 works is. when u take off the 32 opens to get u move'n, then when u mash the pedal the 36 opens up, and thats when u get ur power. so the 32/36 is a 2 step and the 38 is opposite. its power is there. especially when u mash it, take about 1-2 sec, then u got full open barrel. i hope i explained this some what good. hope it helps u to figure out which one u want.
I got a pretty stcok motor and and sick of being slow.. my magna flow only adds about say 30534306hp but I need more lol... is a carb worth it ? hows the gas mileage change ? the 22r probly isnt that slow but im used to my 300hp nissan titan but i drive my yota everyday now... also i get about 18mpg...
Weber . . . Yes, toyotaminis member Truckaction has a prostreet from LCengineering, hit him up for details, that engine bay of his makes me wanna cry with joy. But, in all seriousness, I went from 24 - 27 mpg in town to 26 - 30 mpg ( when I behave ) with the 32/36, on the highway I got 33 on my last trip of over 110 miles, but, I didnt test it before I put the new rims and tires on ( my last rims were smaller therefore incresing RPM's and these new ones are only 8% off from stock instead of the 13 %. The power I havent dyno'D ever, but, I can feel it when I mash down on the fun pedal, its gets going alote quicker and is very easy to adjust, much easier than the stock carburetor. An investment that if you think about it @ even 2 mpg will pay for itself quite quickly depending on how much you drive, be aware thou in some states these are not allowed for inspections and emmisions. Although many just take it off and put the stock one back on till they pass.
I noticed your sig line says you have an 86 truck. That's not the 22R you plan on doing this to, is it?
I wouldn't want to try it myself on my 22RE. I believe that all 4x4 Toyota trucks recieved the RE standard, but didn't the carbed R stay as the baseline engine through 1994?
