comp help

    Hey fellas.... so ive been using my dinosaur of a comp that still runs on windows ME, but my friend gave me his old xp comp only thing is the OS is corrupt so i managed to get my hands on a XP cd to install it all over... only thing is no product key and now im getting a warning that i have 25 days to activate xp.... can anyone help me out... i know theres a couple of you comp wizards on here

    Just use linux. It's free, and uses fewer resources so it much faster. I like Ubuntu awfully well. You can get it here.

    If nothing else, at least poke around the website and see if if looks tempting.

    If your friend gave you the computer with XP on it, you should be able to use that license w/o any issues. You should also be able to use the key that came with the cd, if that is not a copy and someone else is not using the license. If it doesn't validate call Microsoft to have them help in getting the OS to validate or switch to Linux.
