OK i am stuck i need your guys opinions on what direction i should go with my truck... this winter i am tearing her down hopefully and fixing all the little quarks with her.. i am either going to drop her another 1-2 inches static and looking for a beater wheeler or going to lift it with a fab tech 3.5" lift and put some 30X9.5 tires on it.. its kinda up in the air what yall think atm i am getting my LuK Progold clutch 5speed tranny and a lockrite locker
go lower get a beater. you'll be too afraid to take your pretty truck off road and "use it" if you lift it. if you get a beater you already dont care to start... plus when you get back home you have something else to drive.
lol if i lift it it will be used it already is atm running BLM & forest service roads thats how i got the idea of lifting it lol only way i wont run it on those roads is if i lower it a little bit more
My previous truck was in the intersection of this crossroad once...go up or go down? I decided, after having priced parts (initial parts and "snowball effect" parts) that going lower would be equally as fun, WAY WAY more affordable which would leave enough room financially for a beater. If you lift it, even with a fabtech kit initial cost is ~3000....just for the front, and without nice shocks with reservoirs . THEN you have to buy tires.....and rear suspension, and more shocks...then re-gear to compensate for larger tires, and lost torque...... I'm just sayin'......less than half that cost, and you could be laying flat on 20's...
Lifts are for 4x4s unless you have serious cash to throw at a big project. Definitely lower it, and if you want to build an affordable wheeler start with a 4x4 solid axle Toyota (79-84).
You better keep it low. Ill be moving up there very soon right in Eugene and I cant roll in the mud We will swap in a 1uz engine for you how about that? Im looking for someone willing to do engine swaps as I am offering free labor on engine swaps at the time. So save your money and keep it low. off-roading and going higher is more maintainence. been there done that.
My bad. You are absolutely correct. In fact, the 85 would be the most desirable solid axle pickup as the running gear got a little stronger every year they made them. Even the 79 is built tough, but the 85 is the toughest of them all.
