I want to c notch my rearend to get more suspension travel. Will this work with leafspring set up and will shocks need to be relocated if this is possible? Pics would be helpful if possible.
i got a static drop on mine..... whent with a monster notch and theres no way it'll ever hit since i initially cleared the notch to lay frame when i was thinking about air bagging the truck. after notches installed Shot at 2009-09-29 after i dropped it static down to a 8/7 Shot at 2009-09-29 Shot at 2009-09-29 didnt like the stance so i brought it up a couple inches in the rear back to 5 3/4" inches, or 6"..... and the front up to a 7" Shot at 2009-09-29
I like the the stance on your yota SD. Did you have to move the shock location to notch it. Did you do the work yourself?
No relocation on shocks. Good question about the notch because a member Beefed Taco does all our suspension work for the customtacos and toyotaminis guys! PM him and he will answer all your questions.
Ok SD how do you get the rear tires to tuck, the bottom photo shows your tires to be like mine (to wide) yet the others are tuckin, show more pics!!!
Im pretty sure he has different tires in each pic... but I would like to know WTF does that tire with the anodized blue bead locks go to ?!?!
It goes to this...a truggy.. The beauty of your boxed in frame is that a c-notch is about as easy as they come on that frame! cut & weld.
technically no. but i did anyways just so i could still fit a decent amount of shock up travel. same wheels and tires ive always had since the bigger drop. i have 16x8 rears with -11 offset and they are wrapped in 205/50/16 rubber. i pinched the inner fender well lip that runs along the line of the fender. same wheels and tires in each pic. essentially its all about finding the right wheel, offset, and tire combo to best suit the drop of the truck..... i just got lucky and calculated right the first time here are a few tuck line shots. What about the front wheel tire combo, and are they from the same starion front and and back, or did you mix n match?
the front is also a starion. its a staggered set. the front is 16x7 with +18 offset. its got 205/50/16's wrapped around it too. ill get better pics tomorrow. i can pretty much stuff a credit card in between the fender and the tire and it barely clears through if i toss it around a hard corner or around a long swoopy bend real fast it'll scuff the sidewall enough to make em smoke a tiny bit
Hey, don't have time to respond in depth right now, search C-notch. There have been a couple of threads already on the subject (I think anyway). I also run a leaf spring setup with my notch...
