ok well im seriously debating on what I want...

1- rebuild my 22r top to bottom, run header, carb, cam, port polish head, 9lb flywheel...

2- 7mge or 7mgte which ever I get my hands on easier.. I already have a w58 but I would need a bellhousing I cant find any 7ms near me though...

3 ford 302 carb cam header easy to locate but what tranny ?

4 chevy 350 carb cam header same.. what tranny do i use ? im not going auto

obviously the easiest is the 22r rebuild and keeping it all toyota with the 7m would be great too.. but I really want a V8 to make this b1tch baddd.. now I can get the motor mounts fine.. but who knows where I can get an adapter to run either v8 with my 5 speed ?!?! I can not find them.. or better yet what 5 speeds bolt into the sbf302 and the sbc350 !?!? once I choose what I want the 22r will be yanked out and the new motor will be put in asap... Im planning on it being done by christmas, done RIGHT that is ! Im tired of messing around with engines in this "reliable" truck... also my friend down the road from me just got his 7mgte running in his truck... his names stephen im going to try and get him to come on here...

ok I lied this is the only adapter I can find... someone tell me, If I were to get this adapter... do I just replace the bell housing on my tranny and its a direct fit ? or do I need more parts to make it work ??? also it says it only works with g series and w56.. I have a w58.. but does it really matter since my tranny is attached to my 22r just like the others would be anyways ??? thanks

First question. whats your budget/ spending limit? If power is what you want, how much hp do you want to have and what are your intentions? a 7mgte is not bad, but the 1jz in the long run is a better choice with the r154. if you go v8 which is a great choice and the engine is lighter, go with ls1 with a t-56 manual transmission. whose are the 2 options. rebuilding the 22r will be nice and all but wheres the fun and excitement in that. I have done tons of research on almost any engine that can and will fit into the truck inlcluding what you need and where to get it so let me know if you need help with it. I'd be glad to help with the fab work :)

Your not going to beat the horsepower per dollar on a SBC conversion. It will give you the most power and torque for the money. Anyone you mentioned is a good choice but my vote is for the Chevy.

LT1's are great as well. Try and find one from a wrecked impala as you'll find everything you need right there. Are you going with carb or efi?

I can't help but recommend an LS1, all that v8 goodness in an all aluminum package. More power, less weight, comparable in price when looking at Hp per dollar. Besides, wrecked camaros, T/A's and 'vettes are everywhere just waiting to have their guts ripped out. If you don't like this option, you could go for an iron block 5.3 out of truck (much cheaper and much stronger) then use stock LS1 parts to warm it over a bit. Not trying to tell you what to do, just throwing another option out there!

that looks pretty good.. someone who might know could chime in here, what all do I need for the complete swap ??? 5 speed of course

Voting for a V-8 also.... If you go with the chevys the the t5(6) -manual and the 700r4 -automatic are hard to beat. The fords are similar C4-auto was mentioned previously and I believe they have thier own t5/6

yeah but the toyota's have such a much better looking style than a s10 and it will be fun with v8 yota im putting a 302 in mine too with i think a c6 not sure yet but im getting the motor from a buddy and he's helping me install it and its actually won't cost that much for the swap as you can find small v8's for good prices on craigslists or a whole running car for cheap with everything you need.
