So I found some older Yota steelies that have the "T" logo on the center cap and they still have the chrome beauty rings on them. They look just like the ones on Megaglow Z's truck in this thread just a black center cap. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=587

I'm hoping to pick them up tomorrow or saturday for $100. My question is, what color should I paint them? I was thinking red or black, maybe even white, orange, or light blue. They are gonna be my winter/old school wheels. The truck is gonna stay white.

oem they were painted a aluminum color.

but i think painting em white might look kinda sexy, maybe with some 195/60 blizzacks on em for winter driving.

You want 'em? Just found out they're too much of an offset for my truck, not sure if they'll fit yours either.

i used to run 7s with +40 and they barely fit. so, thats actually probably not enough out back. sometimes i hate my track width vs body width. thats why im rollin steelies again.

A 16x8 with 38 offset, not enough? I it too wide or too far in?

well, the old 16s fit. had a little clearance inside and out but overall was tight. im gonna say a 235 is max on my truck, probably 225 with bags. so im gonna go 215s i think. its enough to hook. 195s suck. but that would make them an issue with clearing the bedsides more than the inner stuff. see, nobody believes me. hahaha.

I'm currently running 225/40-18's in front and 245/40-18's in back with no issues, recommended is 235/40. The wheels I'm lookin at are mainly going to be winter wheels.

this truck is like a book on how to lower something that should be easy. because its not. most complicated setup for cut coils and blocks ive heard of. its always something. whatever. im gonna bag it soon. probably the rear first.

Can't bag mine 'til I get a second vehicle. I lowerd mine using drop spindles, blocks and drop shocks.

thats the difference between the old yotas and the new ones. the new ones have more space and clearance for things. they are slightly larger and therein lies my problem. not to mention, i cant swap to an older narrow axle to get more rear dish. i already have the narrowest i know of. i almost wanna try narrowing it a tiny bit.

That would be cool! An old Yota with deep dish wheels in back. There's gotta be someone that can custom make a more narrow rear end. Probably cost an arm and a leg too.

thats the problem. WITH tires that are short enough to clear everything, im lookin at spending 800-1000 to get it bagged. ball valves, rebuilt giant air pump, fire extinguisher air tank, stock toyota parts from privias/4runners for the 4 link, trimmed and plated crossmembers, ect. i wont have to cut into the cab at all. except maybe a smidge where the tires are but might be able to hammer that out. bedfloor raised, stock gas tank in it spot, ect. ill run drop spindles if i can get them on a good deal. might not need them though. still taking measurements.

I picked up those old Hilux rims today. Washed them up and hope to get started on sanding them down tomorrow (if its not raining) so I can paint them. Right now the color will be red cause I think it will look good with the black & red center cap & chrome beauty ring. Will post pics tomorrow.

Here they are, what ya think? Gonna use them as my winter wheels, possibly all the time depending how they turn out when I paint them. I'm still debating on the red. What color do you guys think I should do?
