    yep, still hasnt settled....

the old bed was a replacement bed too, i think it was a older (pre 74) bed. it had a mudded fuel door on the drivers side, and all the bed mounts were hacked/ refitted.

this new bed (78) sits right on the frame, but the rear bed mounts dont line up at all, off by about 2in. gonna use some 1/4in plate to make up the difference and bolt it up.

ya did get me thinking about olive drab, i thought hard. well maybe not hard, but i was pretty drunk so thinking was hard in general...

but im sticking with the semi gloss black. the shiny bits jus wont bling the same if its green.:D

    oooook.

    got her mostly painted....

    mostly.

need to redo the fenders i already did with a different brand (rustoleum), this time i used krylon satin black. turned out pretty good, except for when i grabed another can to do touch up after i finished and it was "brushed bronze" or "brown sparkly $hit" it also made where ever it touched peel and look super disgusting :brickknock:

used the last of the 5 cans it took to paint the fenders that will be coming off this week, just cuz i wanted to get a pre-viz. but the bondo fender actually looks tight black

will have all the trim bits n grill on sometime this week, but getting pics up is gonna be a bi+ch for me, so your gonna have ta wait till i have net, house sitting at the moment.

i would also like to take a moment to acknowlage the real threads for this hilux, i musta been drunk when i first updated this thread for the truck. this is really the thread for the parts truck, wich is only a frame now...

so heres some threads about the build for the truck that make sence.

and you missed it, i hand polished my entire truck at the show after you left. its gleamin.

At first I thought that Jeep was a flat fender in the background, what is that, a CJ5 with the front fenders altered? (aka: phoneyfender) Cool thread, I just went through it all.

    i love my new 4:10 rear end:love:

i cant drive away from a dead stop fully loaded in 2nd anymore, but now 1st is more then 5mph and 5th is very nice and quiet @ 60mph.

got the rear bed mounts on via a home made bracket.

flipped the overload spring for a lil more drop. drove about 40mi with the old axl + tools in the back so it should be settled. but now loaded down it tucks tire in the back, but its still a lil higher then the front. ride is also super cushy now, but not squshy like the wagon.

might put some truck springs in that too...

no pics tonight, batteries are dead. ill get some better pics tomorrow after i put the new fenders n grill on.

i think that it would look good tuckin some steelies. those fancy 17s would look better on a truck with shiny paint.

    /ploy at trading wheels.

    kept the sports mirror.

seemed to be the concensus and i cant deny the appeal, chevrons just arnt right for this truck, im gonna wait for the native green one, or maybe beat em up on the wheeler.

tomorrow will have the grill n stuff on tomorrow, prolly the fenders later tonight. literally watching paint dry atm.

so after the spring flip, once again im at perfect height.:clapping:

    and heres the spring/block setup
    [IMG]

my only complaint about it is the "shudder". the main leaf and secondary arnt stiff enuff to deal with the weight of the truck, so unless they compress down to meet the overload spring, i get a shudder like a bad shock. fairly annoying actually.

if i cant find a way to easily kill the shudder without removing the springs (cant afford new bushings and who knows how old these ones are) i might just put it back to stock and drill a new hole in the shackles for proper height.

ride is very car like now, but with the lack of a sway bar i get some serious body roll, the hilux would no longer almost keep up with my celica.

Time for the one man chant...I'm still lower. I'm still lower. One more time, I'm still lower.

Looks clean though. Should look good with the old luxs at the show.

i sold my solid window :D

i like the extra windo to open, on a non AC truck its mandatory.

so today im putting the new already painted fenders on...

    dont fit. :brickknock:

fender skin measures the same as the one i took off, but some how im ending up with a 1in+ gap at the rocker panel behind the wheel. and only there, everything else is perfect.

i think there is a difference in body panels for 75-76 and 77-78, i was under the impression it was all in the firewall and B pillar for the difference. B pillar is the same width on the outside for a 75 n 78.

so now im thinking of banging and cutting on my mostly perfect, already painted fender.

but im smart enuff to sleep on it:verdict_in:
