F the 2xr or any form there of.

    seriously.

you've got a celing of 200hp for reasonable money. if you think other wise, show me the dyno sheet at the wheel, not some bs eng dyno from LC.

the 3rz can be built to much higher levels for the same cash, and its a dual overhead cam motor with more displacement.

    2rz or 3rz FTW!!!!

Che'lu these motors have so much potential. And if you are serious about getting some real power from the 2rz or 3rz hit up Luis Corujo at www.paradiseracing.com . He can help you out on your hp goals. Just a little hint...He just hit 7.21 @ 192mph with a 2rz!!! So you know he's doing something right.

I already bought a few things from him to go turbo w/ my 2rz Tacoma. Let me know if you need anymore info. Shoootz

You can picture displacement like this: When the piston travels up and down it goes to a high point and a low point in the cylinder. When it is all the way down in the cylinder you could fill the cylinder with water. Say it holds 100cc (cubic centimeters), when it travels up the cylinder, it displaces the 100cc of water (in actuality it would be exhaust gasses etc) and thus would be a 100cc displacement. The larger the diameter of the piston and the longer the stroke, the higher the displacement.

he is also talkin about a truck that is a street biased 4x4.....

keeping in mind this is not just a standard swap in i wonder if it beats the power output. i do see the potential in a 3rz..... its also a proven motor but at most we would be talking a 200 hp motor....... given he swapped in a stock 3rz, maybe intake, header upgrade, possibly cams, port, polish....

if he was to go with a 3rz, the cost would be much higher than a hybrid 22r...... bellhousing for the tranny, motor mounts, rewire harness, swap gas tanks, reroute exhaust, essentially, he would need a donor truck to do the swap correctly without getting nickle and dimed on all the small stuff that these trucks have on the fenders and such.... not to mention he'd have to BAR it.....

the potential is there but at what cost vs. a 22r build that could land him (within the same ballpark numbers) HP as a 2rz? with the 22r hybrid mod, cam, and the sidedraft carbs he has, he can land an easy 150-160 hp..... couldnt he? essentially the same output a stock 3rz puts out but with less work needed. not sure if the extra (at most) 40-50 hp would be worth the effort......

It's easy as just swapping out the heads right:clapping:. Don't know when this is going to happen guys but looks like I'm leaning towards more of the Hybrid motor. 3RZ is definatley still an option though.

3RZ would be a real nice step up but, realistically speaking.... a 22R hybrid is more practical with his application.

ive seen a crazy 3RZ-T (turbo) based 86 4x4 toyota pickup LCE built somewhere into the 400+hp range..... its nuts!!!

    LC Engineering turbo 3rz

Just to give you a little look at a turbo 3rz!!!

Che'lu just do the transplant. Either 2rz or 3rz is good to go. People pick the 2rz ultimately because they are more common to find.

    Vid of 3rz Lc 4wd:

    Vid of 2rz smoking a blown v8:

Your choice. You will get waaaaaaay more out of the 2rz or 3rz than a 22r!
I plan on installing my turbo kit by October. So stay tuned. I promise to post some pics and vids as soon as it's done. Depends on your goals. Shoootz

Wanna swap your sidedraft setup for my turbo setup? Lmk!

If I had the cash to build a monster it will be a 2JZ! For now I'll squeeze what I can out of this hybrid mini monster... Lol!

Turbo sidedraft setup????:evil: For now the 22R hybrid is looking good for my application. Plus I would like to keep this truck as original as possible.

like i had mentioned......... yea, the 2rz and 3rz make more power stock but for allot less hassle and slightly less money you can make the same power.

not to mention i did happen to see a turbo sidedraft setup somewhere on dragguam.com but i havent been able to find it
