I'am doing this conversion as well. I thought about cutting it away but then you would never get proper headlamp adjustment and when I put the grill on it stuck out. Most of it didn't line up to well. I went to the junkyard and cut out a radiator support for the 4Runner. At the yard you can either cut it out or drill the spot welds. If your not into welding, drilled the spot welds on your truck and you can turn it into a bolt on installation. It takes a little time but with the correct radiator support everything will fit perfect. James
try jcwhitney. I currently own a 1993 toyota dually. its in pieces right now, but hopefully have it at least on the road sometime in the summer. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/...0350854/Pr-p_CATENTRY_ID:10000021667710350854 this company sells the dually fenders from year 78- and up. I don't how much they charge for the kit. http://www.customcommercialwheel.com/ here is a japan site that sells dually fenders, but they charge too much. I send an email asking how much they sell the kit. down below, this is the response I got from mooneyes. http://www.mooneyes.co.jp/truckin.html "Hi, I'm Shige from MOONEYES Japan. I've got your E-mail from MOONEYES USA. Regarding Dually Fender for Toyota mini truck, it's made in Japan and it will be shipped out from Japan. The price is 150,000YEN for pair which is about $1,300/pr or so. plus shipping and handling. Please let me know, if you have any question. Thank you for your interest to our products. Thank you, Sincerely yours, Shige Suganuma"
for all u guys still doing those conversions, i simply drilled out the holes for the headlight's bolts. on my 90 p/u there were these long ass screws that went into some plastic things but for the 4runner headlights, all u need to do if u NEED to do it just drill a hole to fit a bolt through the top bolt, side (itll be the bottom hole and really close to the edge of the support) and the bottom. i had to move my horn a lil bit to the right but there was a hole already there lol. also just get the plugs from nappa or something. the bolts dnt need to be any longer than 1"-1.5" MESSAGE ME if u guys need pics
what if i get a 4runner hid headlights conversion, will that work or will i still need the plugs? also, do i need to purchase the 4runner mounting bolts...?
ebay sells them, you can buy piece per piece, which i did but dunno hows its gunna turn out or fbirides has the whole aftermarket kit aswell or try a local toyota junk yard.
yeah you have to have 4runner fenders or 4wd fenders they are the same the corner lights are different between 2wd and 4x4
Ok, so i'm almost done getting every part i need to do this conversion except for the bolts. But where did you guys get the 4runner bolts and do you have to make new holes for these new bolts.
If you can get your hands on the complete bumper with brackets and signals, grab it... everything is unbolted and bolted back on. If you're doing a 92-95 4runner bumper, you're gonna need the light bulb sockets from the donor vehicle. The bulb sockets from the pickup are different.
I trimmed my core support to my 4 runner head lights in and cut one of the mounts off the grille cause it hit something. Moved horn and used 3/8 head self tapping screws to bolt them to the core support. I shimmed the lights with washers to get the housing to fit good, then adjusted them as normal. The 4runner grille does stick out more than the 2wd truck. -Ryan
