    . . . you should ask . . .

Hey man, you should ask ( MTB68TOY ) he runs Cobra wheels on his ride! Im sure he would be most helpful on this ! Or you can read his post, from my thread on (84 - 88 customization) ( rims for pickups . . . )

depends on the rim width and offset you got.

you want the diameter of the tire to be the same as stock.. or as close as possible, if its off you're speedometer will be off a tad..

215/50-17's would be closest to the correct diameter of the tire..
    check the overall diameter

who really cares if their speedo is off a little? if you go with something smaller than stock ( witch is a good thing to do because stock size tires a fawking HUGE!) your speedo reads faster than what you are really doing. so in a way it keeps you out of trouble.

well offset shouldnt make any difference in the diameter of the wheel/tire.. only how far they stick out

correct. the only thing that would matter is the width of the rim

Offset will play a part in the tire size. High offset plus some wide rubber will cause rubbing on the inner wall or when turning. and Low offset will do the same just rubbing in different spots.

That I know, I was just including it for the purpose of " possible " rubbing issues ( like Skip quoted ), but, that varies completely with every ride, its suspension set-up and so on . . . knowing that total height is major factor in speedometer being correct, I sure wouldn't/don't mind that my speedometer is off either. Very good points !

Im running 235/45/17's now and im getting trambling(sp?) now its really annoying.

im thinking of stepping down to 205/50/17 or even 215/50/17 but im afraid of rubbing and will a 8" wide rim be to much for a 205 or 215 tire?

205 and 215 would require a stretch for a 8in rim.. only about .5 inch though

I had 17" Cobra's on my 93. The size was 17x8 with 255/40/17's and I had no issues but I'am running 4wd fenders and the truck is at stock height. Right now I'am running Weld draglites with 275/50/15's and they come very close to the frame but I'am talking about the rear of the truck not the front.
