I bought some rims to put on my truck not realizing the offset was 52.5mm. I need to get the hub hole bored out to clear the spindle but after talking with the wheel shop they seem to think the offset won't work. Is anyone running rims with that much of an offset or do they know if they will work? I don't want to get them machined if they won't work because I won't be able to resell them. I put them on as far as they would go and I don't see a problem besides the obvious of the hub hole not clearing. What am I missing?
Double check the offset, if it will work get them machined Otherwise get a different set of wheels that will work.
Get yourself some spacers and save yourself the pain of all the milling and headache. I bought mine of of ebay and they cleared the dust caps just fine on my 74' . . .
What size spacers did you use? I think I would need at least 1" spacers to clear the dust cap and hopefully still have room to get the center cap on. Then I would need longer studs, how long are yours? I think they will clear everything if I get them machined, I just won't be able to run the center cap. Not a real biggie to me but I was worried I would run into other problems that I don't know about??????
Hey man. The rims i just put on my truck were a 50mm offset. Get somespacers andyou will clear your hub and everything! Ill take pics of my setup when i get home.
Most spacers that are over 1 inch thick bolt on and have studs coming from them. 1.5 - 2 inch thick spacers would put you back near zero offset. You haven't commented on the other specs of the wheels, so it makes it a little more dificult to give an exact amount. Easy way for you, mount them (as best you can) and take a measurement on how far out they need to come, buy spacer of that size.
Ya I saw that when I started looking. I don't have any pics handy and to be honest didn't want to post any until they were on my truck if you know what I mean. Basically they are just Mazda 3 rims, I think 04 and up, a 17"x6.5" 5 spoke. That's what I like is the beefier looking 5 or 6 spoke rims. Ya that would be great! What size spacers did you use? I'm thinking I might be able to get away with 3/4". Ya I did that and I'm thinking I could possibly get away with 3/4" as stated above. The rim size is also above. I was worried about hitting the fender lip when turning if I put too big of a spacer on????? Would something like this work and is it a pretty decent price? Thx for the help guys! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20MM...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Does anyone have a link for cheaper spacers than what I posted above? I totally suck at finding things on Ebay. I guess I just type the wrong thing in the search!
I ran +50 supra rims with 25mm and 30 mm in the rear. Ran nice and flush. I'm selling them if you have the cash. $200 shipped to your door.
My spacers were purchased from ebay, they were 1.25 for the rear of my hilux and they had the studs in them already and had the lugnuts to attach the spacers included for about 50$ a pair . . .
The rears fit so I'm good there. Do most people put spacers on the rear too, even if they don't need them, just to match the front?
