have you ever thought of finding a non running truck and just swapping the motor, axle and front hubs over and then building flares for it?
Regular bed with fender flares. I don't think any car show will take you seriously with a flat bed. the only reason I want a flat bed is so I can carry more than one motorcycle at a time. By the way, where did you get the pic of the 05+ tacoma dually at?
I found it on ebay. heres the web link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=330187820462&rd=1

1 question. what ya think if I did a dump bed??? like this... <a href="http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c341/east1la/?action=view¤t=Picture051.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c341/east1la/Picture051.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> This there a kit for a dump bed of this???
You would be looking for a cantilever kit, that's what's on the one in the picture you have. Suicide doors may have one.
Its not a mini, but, those new Tundra's are wicked a-s sick, sure have them boys at Dodge & Ford on their heels . . . " Awesome picture " add it to my wishlist
hehe, i was bidding agianst u on this one glad you got it though, im also doing a toyota dually, just having to go about it another way. im having a really hard time pulling the axle apart. im going to rebuild it and put it under a 1/2 ton chassis reg cab, with a 6.2l deisel in the engine bay. This truck will be bagged. im just having a few probs with the axle and a place to do all this. but i would like to keep in touch with you and see how ur project is coming. keep up the good work!!
heres my photobucket toyota web page. I will be adding more pictures soon. I being really busy this year w/ college, work, and christmas. http://s260.photobucket.com/albums/ii22/toyotadually1/
i dont really have any good pics of it, just random pics of the motor. chassis and others. if you still want to see those than i will post them up. Im looking to really start working on this project more. im trying to get all the major parts for the chassis so i can get it going. the motor shouldnt be hard at all, as im only looking to just put new gaskets on it. my hardest thing im having probs with is the axle, i cant get the hubs off the rear so i cannt rebuild it right now.
Hey East! I was checkin your bucket pics... Noticed your front hubs are just an adapter mounted to a stock hub like the rest of us have Looks like you could just unbolt it and put some regular wheel studs in it and you would have a normal bolt pattern on the front... Not to be a dick or anything... but it seems to me your best move with this truck is to put it back together and sell it... go buy a regular truck and dually it of you still want the dually thing... seems like that would be cheaper and easier to make a dually from a regular truck instead of modding a dually into a regular truck with a dually rear... It's worth more as a box truck than a regular truck. Best to ya whatever ya do.
i would agree to a point that selling and building from a reg cab would be easier, just one prob with that. the dually has the heavy duty braking system built on it, that and its rare to have one of these. im building mine out of a reg cab, becuase the one i bought, well lets just say the only thing i could really get off of it was the axle and braking system. i think even if he just static drops it, it would look sweet. i have a few ideas for a bed... 1- custom build it 2- put a long bed on it, then either put a tool box or something behind the cab. another idea would be to see about stretching the cab like said before. maybe even get one like the over seas guys have. i liek to see this thing rolling down the road whatever you do, well its going to be a one of a kind!
I see what your saying about the braking being upgraded... but think about it... the brakes are upgraded due to the design being built for heavy loads... neither of you I would assume are going to be hauling anywhere near the weight a box truck does if any at all... All of his options with this truck involve heavy modification to either the body bed or frame... not easy work for someone just starting out or very cost effective either. Plus his truck is a 3.slow v6 he could buy a much more reliable 22r motor truck that would get better gas mileage and just use a set of adapters to add duallys and slap on the fenders. I am betting his truck put back together as a box truck would net him enough cash when sold to get another truck and have some money for the build.
I problem, I don't have any idea where I can find a japan style cab, that might be for sale. I just seen pictures, like this
