My truck is a 1987 rn5 el stripo model, was first bought new by us elevator and was used for a parts truck until 1999 when my freind bought it from them. Six months later I bought it from him, my intent when buying it was to turn it into a chase truck, it was in very poor shape and needed alot of work.

The first thing I did was lower it, put low pros on it and did body and primer. I lowered it for the fun factor and also because I didn't have very much money to start my project, the average cost to build a chase truck at the time was 7k.

Ok the chase truck is up and running and a pretty capable machine, I installed long travel suspension, 31" tires w/wheels, bumpers, fiberglass and much more, not bad.

Next was the motor I had blown a head gasket, I previosly, in one of the threads described the work I put into it but long story short it was thousands to start with.

A change of look again, flat black, rear fiberglass, spindles, fox shox all the way around, and 8" wheels in the back.

Another change coilovers in the front, freedom from the torsins, and weld wheels.

The new look, or at least more agressive the Ivan Stuart fiberglass went on.

Now comes the biggest change< chase truck to Mini drift? You would'nt beleive the **** I heard from the offroad people, I had to get a junk yard bed and it was junk.

The body was a bitch, the truck was lowered with downey control arms and strut frame, himed steering, sway a way torsins, chassis tech spindles and blocks, and kyb shocks, I stapped on 205 50 15's on the welds, the hole thing was a nightmare going from chase truck to mini.

Here's the truck at the fab sop, my buddys house.

And yet another pic of the semi finished truck I still need to go over the body and flat black it but at least I can drive it.

And here's a pic of my carbon fiber hood.

    Feed back is welcomed, thanks.

    all about Driver mainly....

    and less body roll :D

an LSD helps keep the rear end controllable. a tight and stiff rear end usually does the job, but our truck's 2wd three leaf pack does the job. its really complicated at some point.

btw the 92-95 2wd grille looks great on this truck!

Ok yeah its all the same truck, after many many thousands of dollars, and lots of fun, and a oddly understanding wife, as far as the carbon fiber hood its a one of done by hannemann fiberglass which it where I have gotten all of my fiberglass from, I was down there one day and saw they had some carbon fiber hanging and asked hey how much, it was a shocking $250. once it was finished Hal the owner said it wont be that cheap ever again because it was a nightmare to make. But with all things money talks. They do have molds for these hoods in fiberglass aswell as complete toyota beds in fiberglass. Thier link is www.hannemannfiberglass.com.

As far as suspension is concerned drift is 95% driver in any vehicle always! But I do have and am building a killer system, right now I have the Heimed steering, idler arm gusset, Chassis teck drop spindles, tubular control arms, Tubed strut frame, billet cross shafts, poly bushings sway a way torsin bars, I do have 300ms but havent put them in yet, the back is stock with blocks, I have RV kyb's all around with custom mounts made, stainless brake lines, croos dilled rotors, carbon pads, the diff is an 8" 31 splined with a Detroit locker w390 gears, the factory were 307 its a "4 speed", its geared for 33" tires. I do plan on getting the belltech swaybars and rear spings to finish it off, I cant imagine anything else I could do other than bagging it.

Yeah it kinda works both ways, I get what I want and she gets what she wants. Its a trial and error kinda thing.
