Alright so my EXT cab has the 3.0 motor in it. The first couple days i had it, it drove fine. then for some reason wen its cold and i rev it even just a lil bit instead of returning to idle it just dies. Once its warmed up it gives me no problems. What could be causing this?? Thanks for looking JJ
Thats wat i started thinking, (this might sound stupid but) My dads pocket bike does the same **** if you leave the choke on or open or however it works. im guna look into it today. Any other ideas??
i'm not much of a motor person but isn't the 3.slow liter fuel injected? maybe the air intake temperature sensor or whatever its called is bad?
yea i aint either. my last car the most i did to it was change the plugs, oil and install an intake. haha And yea the motor is EFI. would that sensor be the one on the throttle body?
The coolant sensor is stupidly placed too high on this motor... if there is no way for ECU to tell the temperature of the motor, it'll keep the coldstart injector going for a while, basically too much gas, motor dies out. etc. are you on Toyota nation?
well i once again checked the coolant and its full. unless i actually need antifreeze in it. cause it looks like theres only water in the b****. And naw im not on there but ive lurked a few times.
alright so i checked for codes and it threw a 24, 32 and 51. 24 and 32 are sensor things but 51 i didnt understand. 24 was Intake Air Temp sensor- my question is where the hell is this sensor? 32 was air flow meter or something like that, where is this one? and WTF does 51 mean?
my manual says code 51 has to do with the switch condition signal. it says trouble areas are a/c switch, throttle position sensor idl circuit, park/neutral switch circuit accelerator cable, or the ecm. i would check your tps since your having troubles with it stalling. the iat sensor should be somewhere between the maf sensor and the engine. the maf sensor is the big box thing just after the filter.
Well idk where the TPS is, i kno wat it is but not its location. and would the IAT be the one rite at the throttle body?
the throttle position sensor should be on the intake manifold. check where you throttle cable connects and turns the butterfly on the intake and it should be straight across. is a round looking sensor held on by 2 screws. i'm not positive on where the iat is since i don't have a v-6. i'll try and find out.
my suddestion is what I have come to notice is that on alot of vehicles carbon builds up on the throttle blade. The fix, take all the shyt off that connects to your air filter then get some kind of t-body cleaner start the engine, while spraying the cleaner into the t-body move the lever slightly while spraying the entire t-body. Now I can't promise this will be the fix but I'm pretty sure it could use it. If it is what I mentioned whats going on is carbon build up makes the blade stick.
But would the blade be sticking only when its cold? Because wat ive also noticed is that even when its warm it idles over 1k RPMs. and ive never messe with the idle screw ****
