Hey everyone! My name’s Foko, I live in Seattle. Just got back from a six month motorcycle work-ish trip in Mexico (I’m a sign painter and tattooer so jobs come up spontaneously), am selling my bike (a 2000 Suzuki DR650, if anyone’s interested :p) and getting back to basics with an old Toyota. Saw this beautiful ‘77 long bed on Craigslist in Montana and thought it looked pretty good for its age, body relatively straight, very little rust and almost entirely stock, so last night I took a bus out from Seattle and am now in Missoula putting some new tires on for the drive back.

The truck’s got a listed 44k on the odometer, and I really wouldn’t be surprised if it hasn’t rolled over - it drives extremely well. It’s possible it’s overheated at some point as there is dried coolant residue on the top of the radiator. Thermostat appears to open fine so not gonna touch that for now. Gonna change the oil, flush coolant, replace fuel/air/oil filters and spark plugs, and carry a new set of points with me before setting out, along with the good set of used tires that’s going on right now. If there’s anything else you all think I should be checking let me know - I figure this truck is simple enough but always figure I can overlook something. Thanks for reading, looking forward to being part of this community!

May I ask what you paid for the truck? I am trying to gauge what to sell mine for- 1977 pickup with all new interior upholstery and carpet. R2o with Weber conversion, new exhaust system but stock otherwise.

I paid 4k, which I’d gauge is on the higher end for a truck in this condition. For comparison, I saw a 1971 truck in excellent condition - like, garaged for its whole life - up for 8k in Seattle, that hasn’t moved for 2+ months. I also saw a 76 with a new head, carb and headers, brand new custom seats, and a lot of other recent maintenance for 4500, but quite a lot of rust on the body and frame, and passed on it for this truck which, though in worse shape mechanically, still runs fine and has next to no major rust. Hope this helps and good luck with the sale!
