Hahaha. for reals.. I think people are way to early for some of these prices I've been seeing. Maybe in another 10 years when you really don't see many of these trucks .

In reality ten years isn't going to help the value much of most of the trucks on the road. You'll probably see the same vehicles you see now in ten years not sold. Been following the used car market close the last couple years. They're tons of cars that haven't sold because they are just a little to far off base to attract an offer. To attract the big bucks from a collector it comes down to everything. If it has a scratch it better be a good story on how it happened.

Even then, most people dont look at these trucks as collectibles or anything. Theyre just old work trucks that have become way fuckin overpriced. Seeing some go for as much as a tacoma, and 1st gen tacomas going for the same as 2nd gens is nuts.

granted at this point in time, EVERY used car has an additional tax on it. Covid shortages have created a used car sellers market, i legit took advantage of it and sold a car i owed on and made some change off the deal

It's definitely a small percentage of car collectors looking for a truck. I've seen a 4wd 3rd gen sell for 50k. Can't recall all the info but for that price I'm sure it was very low miles all original. You got people that are just trying to take advantage of the market with a vehicle they are not even serious about selling along with a bad example. Then you got guys that selling shit for high has been their deal forever. Most cars sell at a fair price or they don't sell. I've been surprised before by thinking someone's totally firm. Then when I check it out they are pretty much trying to give it to me after becoming uninterested.

I hear you, but it really depends on geographic circumstances.. example: here in Los Angeles I worked for an Egyptian cat who owns 3 tow yards and runs an auction every Thursday out of one. Because of his resources, every 3rd/4th/5th gen pickup he got his hands on(regardless of condition), he ships over seas. He fills a 45 ft container with 10/12 trucks, every 2 weeks. He's been doing this for over 5 yrs now to my knowledge.

When I first started working for him I thought it was for resale.. nope. I quit the moment I found out he supplies local militia in his native land.

So really, you can't gauge a market based on social media traffic. There's so much more at play behind the scenes. #foodforthought

There's alot of that. There's the case of the guy seeing his truck overseas with his business and contact info still on the side. That shit can only influence the private market so much though.

The jdm import inflation is what's really crazy. Quickly gave up on the thought of getting a r34 gtr soon after they are legal. Maybe if I would of got serious a few years ago and found a place to store it.

Yea before I had my last kid I was really in the market for a rhd 5th gen.. but the cheapest one I found at the time was $10k some going for even $17k. That wayyyyyy too much even for jdm low mile shit.. now it's even gotten worse. Surfs' are going for up to $25k on Autotrader.. hahaha so that was a no go and ended up buying my girl a 50k mile mk5 Jetta for 8k.

If I ever buy a gtr, it would be an R32. Best chassis IMHO
