Why do you have winter wheels in cali? Not many people here in western Washington buy a set off winter wheels. Lmao

Yeah, I've got a hefty cart growing on Rock Auto, including rebuilt Booster and Master, Calipers, Pistons, Pads, Hardware, Bearings, Rear Cylinders and Shoes, and other misc. Assuming I can get the spindle and hub stuff I'm hoping are pending, it's looking pretty viable within my budget, depending on how much professional labor I have to implement along with my own. Hah, my cart total is $420.20... Ima roast a bone to celebrate.

I'm still wondering if the 26" hoses are long enough with 14" stock rims, but I might not know for sure until I have the stuff in hand and can extrapolate the fit.

I usually throw them on in the "cold" months when i really dont drive it in case whatever rain we've gotten has created new potholes and to polish up the billets

The hose length is determined by the caliper not the wheel. The wheel size only comes into play because the stock 14 will rub on the caliper.

To many potholes in my town to buy wheels just for that. If the wheels get messed up you can send the bill to the city for them to pay. The joke of the town is you can tell someone's drunk by not avoiding the potholes.

Oh, Drag. I'm really not ready to change wheels to accommodate a caliper that's that close. I love my stock rims. Bummer. I'm very very glad you clued me in to that. So much for this bright idea. Back to drum parts...

So, how does it work on the 75-78 trucks? Are the wheels a different offset?

The 75 and up went to 15 inch and probably a different offset. @KS.ID clued me in on this before. Surprised he didn't bring it up.

    ???

As far as I know, all 2WD Toyota trucks up to 94 (last year before Tacoma?) Came with 14-inch steelies. My 1988 came with 14inch steelies, as did my friend's 1994...

Really? I was shopping for wheels from recycling yards recently for spares and caps, and all I saw from RN20 trucks through 78 was 14". I assume most of those were disc format. That's what made me wonder if the offset is what compensated the clearance from the caliper.

I'm sure he'll come back to chime in. I'm trying to find the post he mentioned it to me. From what I remember tho he said he had to pull the wheels off his dolphin to make it work. I kind of remember him saying they were 15.

I'm really surprised this hasn't come up in any of the threads I've read about this. Does everyone just have custom wheels?

That is a good chance why it gets overlooked.

Heh. Wow. I find that interesting. I guess that's the downside to a vehicle that lends itself to so much tinkering. When I found this truck, I was really thrilled that nobody had buggered the suspension from it's original condition. Maybe I'll discover an economical workaround for this dilemma. Perhaps I can score some 75-78 rims to go with those disc hubs... But then I'd have to carry 2 spares, one for the front, one for the rear, or else switch to 75-78 rear brakes too. What a funky bailiwick this has turned out to be. I'm very grateful for the education. Many thanks to all who have posted here!

Spacer if you are comfortable with them. I guess you only need to find a few millimeters.

It might not be the worst idea to get some new wheels to do the conversion though. They are old and fatigued. When I got my tire rebeaded the guy had me promise I would get new wheels because they are pretty rusted on the inside.

Sorry, wasnt keeping up with all the comments. If you plan on running the stock 14's you may need a 10mm spacer. I am using 75-78 wheels that came on the parts truck I acquired.

That's interesting. So, are you using spacers on the rear, or did you swap some things there as well?

Luckily my stock wheels don't have a speck of rust. I think they may have been replaced along the way, or else they're as miraculously preserved as the all but rust free body on this thing. I'm jonesing to find or make some fender liners to help keep it that way. I've got plenty of dings, but almost no rust. The Northwest is a relatively non-corrosive environment, and this spent 15 years sitting in a garage before the engine swap, so it's not as weathered as some.

Spacers would be a saving grace for the disc endeavor - very affordable it looks like. That didn't even occur to me. Thanks!

Is 10mm equivalent to the difference in the offset?

    Is this the correct dimensions?

    10mm wheel spacer 5x114.3, 12x1.5, 60.1

Whats the 12x1.5? If you doing slip on style you will want to get some longer studs.

    More than likely the studs.
