Definitely a clean runner, especially at that price! Most I find in the same price range.... well, clean isn't a word I'd use to describe them.
Hey all! First post on this forum. Been building Toyota’s for a couple decades now and have a collection growing. The one missing from my bucket list is a slammed 4Runner and a search brought me here. picked up a rust free 95 2WD the other day. Above posts mention using a truck frame. Are we talking like “same year” kinda frame? Regular cab, short bed? Just looking to start stockpiling the right parts for the build.
Sounds like a great project, like to see more photos. I've seen a few lowered 4 runners be aware if you go too low the glass starts to look out of proportion for some reason, I've noticed it on a few slammed 4 runners very strange, some paint jobs seem to make it better or worse.
The 4Runner body donor I have is a 95. The 95 is a 2nd Gen for the 4Runner. The 95 Tacoma is a 1st Gen. Should I look for a pre-95 frame to mate to the 95 4Runner body or should I look for a 95-2004 frame due to them generally being more available and in better shape? Do the body mounts on the 2nd Gen 4Runner line up with the 1st Gen Taco frame?
Doubt all of the body mounts from any pickup will line up with The 4runner, tacoma or not Id look for a pre-Taco frame
I’m aware that the mounts from the cab back need to be swapped regardless. My question is, does anybody KNOW if a 95-2004 Taco frame will work with a 95 4runner body, ie; do the front mounts still line up? I just don’t have a pre-taco and post-taco frame on hand to compare. I don’t want to go through the ass pain of pulling a frame out of a scrap yard to find out that either a) I COULD have used an 04 frame, or b) I got an 04 frame and NOTHING lines up.
I understand. I just thought that maybe in a forum like this that somewhat specializes in this sort of thing that a member might KNOW the answer through previous experience. I’ll just grab a fully boxed 94 and go from there.
There havent been many people to do the swap and record it here. And if they did its been a long time but what most of us will tell you with certainty is thats its been done with the same generation chassis. Can it be done with the Tacoma chassis?i" Im sure it can, just no one has posted about it
