ok so guys im seriously debating to put a wood floor bed in my truck it would go with the whole old school theme im goin with soooo has anyone put a wood floor in a truck if so what kind of wood do you suggest i use i want something light but still looks durable and great at the same time
ok guys i got an awsome deal today sooo where i work we are renovating the old schools in the county and the alternative education school had some awesome oak around the door frame, they was goin to throw it away so i loaded up my civic and brought it home !!!!!!! ahahhahahahahaha i love my job here is just an idea i layed a couple peices in to see what it looks like i still have to stain them and get some stainless 1" angle and cut my bed up i didnt know how much of i love hot rods and classic ideas til i started workin on my yota hahahhahah
i will man im cutting the bed up next week and starting doin it again but the reason i want to do a raised wooden bed is that no-one has wooden beds except a few trucks here and there and classics everyone else either has a shell on it or a sheetmetal bed thats painted i just want to be different and stand out has anyone done this before im in need of the chrome strips to hold the wood down the only other option i have is to get some 1" stainless angle and that maybe rather expensive.....
most of the ones iv seen they have a just like a sheetmetal strip then you take like a small peice of c channel and you bolt them together with the wood in between....
hahahaha thats old gregg lol just go to youtube and look it up at first you will think its stupid but when ppl start talkin bout it its great lol and i hope it looks good man if not il go with something else
Interesting concept, keep us posted. Use a hard wood like Oak or something else, a wood place will know of more. And for the steel strips, old Chevy's and and Ford F-100's from the 50's used them so try a Google search for some stores that deal with those trucks. My grandfather and I redid mine in my old 55 when I had it. What I learned is definitely use a high end out door protectant or all your hard work will start to die quickly.
well the wood i got is oak and its been ina school for about 30 years very well kept care off so its dried out im going to plane it down and re-stain /seal it im not quite sure what kinda of finish to use i was going to use polyurethane on it then go back and spray a couple coats of clear over it but idk about that either
one thing... do u wut u know ur going to love lookin at everyday. i was actually thinkin about a wood bed like wut ur doing... geez we must be brothers or something lol
