I just wanted to take a minute and say hi. I'm a long time lurker on the forum, and finally created an account. I'm a long time Toyota guy, having owned a bunch of different models over the last 20 years. I currently own a 94 Base 2wd, an 86 DLX standard cab 4wd, and an 00 Camry (my daily highway warrior). I'm in the process of dropping my 94 into the weeds, something I've always wanted to do but never found the time for. It's been a fun experience so far, but challenging for someone with a limited time budget. I'd like to thank all that have contributed to the tech sections, you have saved me a ton of time over the last months with all of the great posts. I hope to be able to add to the section down the road, and maybe even help out with some of the electrical/electronic questions (I'm a long time Electronics Technician and bench tech). I'll see ya around! Jester
I'm brand new here as well and from Oregon also. I'd be interested if you're knowledgeable about a local Parts Source and mechanics who know much about these old Toyotas here in the Portland area.
I'm an hour or so South of PDX, but there's a ton of shops around the area that have Toyota stuff. There's a guy out in Sherwood that always has Toyotas that he parts out on CL (and his prices are very reasonable!). There's also a group of mini truckers out in the Washougal area that are a great group and have some killer trucks. For alignment stuff and 4WD - drive down to Salem and see Jim at RJ Chassis Dynamics. He's the man when it comes to making anything raised or lowered drive right. Hell, I even take the wife's car in to get it aligned there. They are super folks down there, and the price is right for sure. Jester
Thanks Jester for the info. I went into Discount Auto Parts in Beaverton and they just sort of shrugged. Right now I'm looking for somebody locally that I can take it to the can really give it I looking at so I know what to do. It's not really drivable so I would need to talk to the person first. It's bone stock and that's the way I intend to keep it so I likely won't lower it or any of that stuff. Thanks again for your info and any additional references on getting brake parts or that stuff would be appreciated
