I sadly blew the engine in my 74 Hilux in January, and ever since I have been tracking down all the parts I would need to swap to a 3rz. I have nearly everything that I need and over the next couple weekends I will be swapping the engines and wiring. I will post pictures this weekend. For now I want to make sure I have everything before I get started, if you guys would be so gracious.
    Engine
    conversion mounts
    5 speed trans
    flywheel
    clutch
    wiring harness and computer
    radiator
    fuel pump
plenty of tubing to run new clutch lines
    I think that is it?

I was also thinking of going to a lightened flywheel. I had one in my previous WIP and enjoyed it, but wanted to hear some feed back before commenting. Thank you all.

Due to illness I have not made any real progress, but I decided to go with an LCE pro clutch and lightened flywheel. I also decided to take Cade01's idea and use speedhut gauges in the old bezel. I will be stabbing the engine and trans in this weekend. I will take more pictures of the process and the truck itself.

I might eventually have to steal the gauge idea too. They look good.

Please post up your progress with the wiring on the 3RZ.

I'm shocked how good the gauges look. Plus you can customize the look of them quite a bit.
I had some time today and started preparing the 3rz to be put it. Pulled off the power steering pump and the wiring harness. As well as putting on the new engine mounts. They fit amazing. I got them from Chilkat Designs, and I am impressed so far. They bolted on pretty easy. I am kind of dreading the wiring part of this project, its never been my favorite. interesting, looking forward to seeing the completed project.

any issues with the steering box interference or all good since 3rz exhaust is on the passenger side?

So last weekend I tried to set the engine in and ran into a few issues. The Steering box is not a problem, thankfully, but the plenum is really close to the brake cylinder. I forgot to get a picture of this, but ill be back at this tomorrow and have more pictures to add. The biggest problem is where the engine sits. IMG_20170429_143950292.jpg IMG_20170429_144802187.jpg IMG_20170429_144712022.jpg
It hits the T100 oil pan, and where the filler is towards the back of the engine. The rear is sitting about an inch higher than the front of the engine, as it is hung up on the steering. The front bottoms out on the sub frame. I tried to circle it but its hard to see. The 3rz is supposed to sit at an angle and here it is almost perpendicular to the road. The drive side mount was able to be bolted in but the passenger was way off.

I plan on cutting out the original mounts on the sub frame and fabricating new ones. I am shooting for raising the engine about an inch and a half. I am worried that this will prevent me from using the stock hood
    IMG_20170429_143618287.jpg
I can force it all the way closed but it smashes some of the hoses on the plenum. It seems that I will either be modifying the hood or the intake system at this point.

I think the main issue with the mounts is the narrow frame up front. Otherwise it wouldve fit fine between the rails

Why not simply chop/modify your oil pan instead of relocating your engine mounts and possibly not having your hood fit? I see lots of people do this on 4x4s to clear steering and axle swaps

I tried to get it to sit without having to raise or move the engine forward, but the problem is it cuts really close to the oil pick up in the pan. I could modify the pan completely to make it all work, but the hood is still a tight fit. I raised the engine up about a 1/2 in and that made it less extreme for the cutting of the pan.

    IMG_20170520_153300641.jpg
You can kind of see that the oil pan is just barely touching the bar. So I will only have to slightly modify the oil pan. It also let me get much closer to the correct angle for the engine to sit at. I will be adjusting the placement of the engine and trying to adjust exactly where the engine sits, to try to prevent having to modify the hood.

Here is roughly the placement of the engine, currently. I'm going to remake the bracket one more time in the next couple days to try to get the hood to close, but the plenum just sits so high with the air intake. I may be modifiying the hood either way.

The strangest part is the whole front end is sitting up much higher. I looked into the weights of the engines and they seem to be pretty close, maybe I got the wrong weights though. This is all stock suspension.

I got some Mighty Max springs I no longer need. Will sell them cheap, $30 plus medium flat rate shipping.

Maybe the front is sitting higher because you don't have the weight of the hood installed.

The trans is not in yet. I had to cut a out quite a bit of the firewall and will be fabricating a new cross member for the new transmission. I am hoping its sitting that high because the lack of parts; hood, radiator, and fluids. I will lower it eventually anyways. One of my concerns now is trying to figure out what I am going to do for a radiator. The stock one for the Hilux is probably too small, and the one for the 3rz will not fit between the frame rails. Any suggestions? Or know if the stock one will be enough?

I think a medium flat rate box ships for about $14 and it's priority mail so it only takes about 3 days. They are stock springs with either a half coil or full coil cut off, they lowered my Hilux about 3.5 inches up front

This is with those springs up front and 4 inch blocks in the rear...

I'll take those springs off your hands. Just what I was looking for. Let me know.
