ok guys i need help i had the worst day of my life yesterday i lost my girl that i have been with for 2 years then i get pulled over because one of my BRAND new HID ballast had burnt up and get wrote a ticket for a burnt out headlight even tho i had a halogen bulb to replace it with then once i pull out not even a 1/4 mile down the road my distributer goes out on my car (99 civic ex 1.6 L vtec) so i thought i just green horned it so i try cranking it back up .... no spark so to make a long story short i bought a new cap and button , not it. So i buy the whole distributor bolt it up and it cranks up and runs but in 3rd and 4th gear its got a really bad miss in the lower rpms it twists to adjust the timing .... how do i know where to put it to get it right ? do i have to adjust the timing belt also?

 

WOW! THAT REALLY SUCKS! Sorry about all of that, and that I can't help when it comes to working on cars. I'm still very green when it comes to that.

i would say to check the timing, but i'm not positive on the variable valve timing.

 

thats what i was thinking but i was thinking that it might of jumped time also but i dont see how just all of a sudden the distributor ( it isnt like the yotas the ignigtion module and coil are built into the distributor) and it jump time at the same time....

 

well i got a timing light today and got the timing straightened out today so i got that fixed up there is still a miss its slight but its still there what else could it be? should i wait and see if it will straighten itself out

 

I would say no myself. If there is one thing I learned in the 3 years I have driven my truck, it's that it won't fix itself like we heal ourselves. If no one can help on here, I guess it's time to call a garage and schedule an appointment... better to get it fixed than bust something expensive...

i think i may just have fouled spark plugs or wires im replacing them next week hahah maybe i should go to a honda forum lol and live my life a 1/4 mile at a time ( lol sorry i just had a fast and furious moment ) hahahhaha sorry guys i had to say it

 

Hey, at least you were able to laugh after all that happened this recently. Took me two weeks to get over my ex, which is also when symptoms of the blown head gasket were apparent, getting my crappy job and my only accident. All that in the same month!

man back when i lost mine, it was even worse cuz i managed to do her wrong the day before my bday n i felt bad, and i confessed. so she left...my birthday was drowned in red bull and vodka lol

things went all downhill for me after that so my advice dnt let the small things build into something big cuz its not worth it. jus think of it this way, now u kno u wnt have that problem with your car. lol

lol sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys it is a stock engine Predracer and yea it is still running rough i changed spark plugs and wires distributor , cap , and button . it is timed right i double checked at first it wasnt done right because dad is blind and couldnt see the reference point on the block so i went back and re-did it , as far as my girl goes we are back together but idk for how long she deleted most of the girls from my myspace phone and AIM , checks my phone constantly but i guess you reap what you sew.... i cant drink at shows and no sex either!

im fine with the drinking i dont drink that much only at shows but the sex damn dude im pissed about it sooo anyways the civic started knocking today so i pulled off the side of the road and walked home lol its been sittin there for 3 days now ( whats bad is that i got called a ricer when i broke down by a guy who drives an s10 extreme with dual fartcans and a fire extinguisher on his pillar lol i was like uhmmmm) fckin hondas !
