I am 5'9" and have regular cab 1989 with bench seat moved all the way back small non stock wheel installed and there's like a fist distance between my legs and the the wheel, also hand brake touches my knee when engaged, feel bit award. Will upgrading to captain chair seats make difference or i should get bigger cab?
Theres 6'+ dudes sitting in single cabs. Just need to get yourself some bucket seats. They sit lower and a little further back i think
I always though bench seat for single cab gave the most room to move seat back - because there's typically no rear structure on the seat. Seats from a 4 door donor vehicle tend to be too thick, because they have padding for rear passengers knees or seat back storage, thicker head rests, etc. I have seen some vehicles with pretty thin seats - like a RAV4, scions, crv, similar cars. Racing seats are pretty thin but obviously wont be the same comfort and look. For the height you might look into chopping and welding your seat bracketry to make it sit lower.
Try moving the seat back? There is a lever under there... I think benches sit higher, but let the seat go back further than most buckets?
Um.. I'm 5'7" and I've always thought I was somewhat of a shorty-pants. (No offense). Just about any car I've driven, I've had to have the seat only one or two clicks shy of all the way forward. In fact one time I drove my boss's Silverado and his catch for the seat slider was broken with a really smooth sliding seat, so you step on the brake and you're chest deep in the steering wheel, step on the gas and you're in the bed. Had to accelerate really slow and really hang on to the wheel just to reach the pedals. Thank goodness it didn't have a clutch. Maybe it's personal preference. Or maybe I'm ill proportioned with really shorter than average legs for my torso size?
