okay so i picked up a set of 1996 mitsubishi rims a few months back, ive looked on ebay and i found a set of these 1" spacers, and i would like to know if ill have to do any modifications to have the wheel fit correctly on the hub ( like cut the threads on the hub so the rim will sit flush on the spacers ). oh and btw the rims are the same bolt pattern and everything, the only reason i am looking into spacers is because i dont want to have to drill out the center bore on the rim. -Thanks!
Ive got a 91 model truck & Ive had Eclipse, Probe, Lexus & Mustang wheels at one time or another. The only thing Ive ever had to use was 2-inch wheel spacers/adapter on the front & 1/4 disc brake spacers on the rear. I used the 2-inch spacers/adapters on the front cause it pushed the rim/tire out enough to clear everything & it looks better as well. For the rear I just used the 1/4 spacers so they would clear the drum hub & I didnt have to bore the center of the rims out too!! I bought my adapters from this site & here is a link to what Ive got now... http://www.ezaccessory.com/Wheel_Adapter_5_Lug_4_5_To_5_Lug_4_5_p/5450-5450.htm
isnt 2" a little big? and doesnt it look funny with 2inchers in the front and half inchers in the back?
No..its what Im using on my truck now & the rims sit like they would it they were regular rwd rims & not fwd rims. Here is what mine looks like... factory rims... aftermarket rims... *Oh & another reason Im using 2-inch adapters/spacers on the front is that when I install bags on the truck I wanted to make sure that the balljoints & control arms clear the rims when the suspension is being lifted or lowered.
Np...glad to help. I actually had a buddy on mine pass thw info on to me about the wheel adapters/spacers for the front! Since Ive had them on my truck-(over a year now) Ive had no problems what so ever. I drove this truck to Scr8fest-about 300 mile round trip & the truck handled great!
