Any technics or methods on getting the carpet in the cab cleaned? Obviously you would wash it but is there any special carpet cleaner that anyone has used to get it looking back to new?
Trash it lol. jk. Steam cleaning it with my Bissell steam cleaner always worked pretty well, but that carpet will have a ton of sand in it, so I'd either vacuum it really good, or remove it and shake it down so you can get most of the sand out. Worse case scenario, trying to get it to look like new, is dying the carpet with a certain dye. Tried it once and tried to get black carpet but it came out purple lol. Its been a while since I cleaned mine since I had to trash my carpet when someone spilled a milk shake in my truck and the hot sun helped bake the smell of spoiled milk into it over the weekend.... horrible lol
this....or take it out and pressure wash the shit outta it with siomething like Simple Green sprayed on it. if its not that bad then maybe a carpet shampoo"er or just use some of the aerosal cans . I use TuffStuff...seems to work pretty good and i use the Bissel LiL green machine....works killer. Whatever you do besides replacing the carpet (130Bux) will just take some time and ekbow work!!
I'm gonna try purple power and a push broom and just soak it with that and scrub the 130 bucks outta it and buy some drop shocks thanks for the input much appreciated Oh and since the carpet is out I'm gonna spray the common areas of rust with some kinda rust proofing before it gets eaten up
carpet cleaning solution? the interior of my old corolla was NASTY...one day one of those steam cleaner guys in a van was driving buy after doing a neighbor's carpet - asked if I needed any cleaning done and I mentioned the car. he'd never done a car before but I figured for $60 bucks why not try. Took out the seats real quick and let him at it. An hour later the interior looked like brand new, he did everything but the headliner.
I had a 91 civic hatch. It had faded black carpet in it. I tryed dying...but the purple deal happened...so i took some black spray paint and sprayed it. Once it dryed...yes the paint hardened...BUT...i took a stiff scrub brush..like a bathroom cleaning handbrush....and went over it to make the catpet soft again. Vaccumed it real good and let it air out for a day and walah!! A new black carpet for 2.99
So I got my interior out and still got this stench that the previous owner somehow got stained into the cab any ideas on how to get rid of it?
Vinegar solution is what I'd try. Also out a bowl of vinegar in the cab in the sun on a nice day to soak in has helped me before
If the carpet is out of the truck, and you have a pressure washer, spray on some cleaner and let it soak in for a few minutes and blast it clean. If you don't have a pressure washer, I would take it to one of the self serve coin car washes and hang it up on the car mat clips and go to town on it with the some resolve satin remover and the high pressure setting (just back a few feet). As for the smell, spray the headliner with an upholstery cleaner and lightly scrub it. If that doesn't work, there is always fabreze
I would pull the carpet, vacuum it really good then spay LA totally awesome cleaner and let it soak, then pressure wash it and let air dry then re vacuum and install. Took me a weekend bUT was worth it.
I wouldn't use purple power. Very harsh. LA totally awesome is only $1 @ dollar tree and full strength on it works great and leave a fresh citrus smell.
